Guys,

Is this camera kind of faulty?, was going up Stud towards knox and passed the intersection (FerntreeG rd) I knew there was a camera there so I went passed roughly 73~ on my speedo and the camera snapped me, im pretty sure its a 80km/h zone because all the signs say 80, so I was like wtf!

Anybody else have had any issues with this before.

I would sugest that you sit tight and wait for the speeding fine to arrive. Was any one else near you when you went past? Maybe while waiting for the fine to arrive get your speedo checked to be sure, and then don't pay and contest it. Thats what I would do. Best of luck.

I thought it was just a redlight camera?

Was doing right turn off stud onto ftg next to a truck which triggered the camera with his back tyres as light turned yellow.

Didnt know it was a speed camera? Maybe red arrow light turned on as you kept on driving straight and someone turning set it off?

if ur right on verification it will be thrown out. happens a fair bit. Also might not have been u.

might have been testing also, when I used ot test i would do it under the speed limit to get lots of images...lol pissed every1 off.

the cameras that got shot a couple of weeks ago on middleborough rd and the freeway - they are or were faulty. It flashed one of these guys car and he was doing around 50 apparently (most people slow down when they come to that camera)

that camera plays up all the time, ive been flashed twice and never got a ticket cause i wasnt doing anything wrong, and i've seen heaps of people get flashed when they arn't speeding or didnt run red light, it only gets you for speeding if the light is amber or red, but the camera even goes off when there is no-one going threw the intersection, i go past it like twice a day thats my experience, theres also a falty one on the corner of wantirna rd and maroondah hwy that goes off randomly too

its not uncommon cant say why...signed some stuff ages ago which still holds and this is a public forum.

I did a check, these are know problem sites. I doubt u will find any1 getting a ticket from these cameras...I couldn't actually see if these have gone live yet, dont have the access i used to . never know...might not have.

Just becuase its installed doesn't mean its working and online.

Yeah I will wait, shouldnt be an issue due to the replies,

It was all green light all the way and it just flashed, I was on the most right lane going forward, and there was a van 2 car lengths behind on my left. But I do remember one car looking going pretty quick on the opposite direct crossingt the intersection as I was. Perhaps it triggered the camera?

pretty sure they have been doing maintenance on those cameras for a while now. i remember a few months ago i was turning right onto ftg rd from stud rd, and i got snapped going thru a green light doing like 25kms. so did every other driver.

ive seen them working on the cameras during the day, that was a few weeks ago tho. so maybe they arent right still...

I wouldn't worry about it, I drive through those lights every day and I see them flash all the time, mind you I haven't been flashed though. As said they are speed and red light, perhaps they were flashing someone else? Has happened to me before in other intersections and I never got any fines. They JUST did some work on them about a month or so ago so I'd say they are pretty on the ball.

I had a similiar experience with the speed camera infront of underworld gym on finders st. i was doing around 58(its 60 there), the light was amber and i got flashed. this was nearly two months ago so i am assuming that i didn't get the fine(i didn't bloody well deserve it anyway! i wasn't doing anything wrong!).

centre road in clayton is another faulty one, been through there, not speeding and got flashed, never got a ticket. mate drives down there all the time and says he gets flashed even at like 40km/h

    • The previous switchover point was 501mv. The stock value is like ~360. They now were idling at about ~880. The thing is, most people get a false lean condition. I am getting false rich conditions. This isn't a quirk of terminology, most cam upgraders get awful fuel economy because the O2's read false lean and add fuel - Mine are attempting to aggressively subtract fuel.
    • So... the whole idea was to upgrade the power of the motor from stock. The motor I bought with the gearbox had 'some' stuff done to it in the past, but it wasn't as well thought out/what I had wanted to do. The stock heads typically are a big restriction on LS's and need porting to unlock quite a lot of power. You can then go a bit silly with aftermarket castings to get more, aftermarket intake manifolds for a little more, and then porting those for more. <- We are here. Nobody in Australia really goes down this path (for some reason). It might* make 3kw or something more than doing things the tried and true path for 10X the cost. So that's probably why - I wouldn't even recommend it to people, the money was and is likely better spent on just CNC'ing the stock heads and putting a 6.3L stroker kit in. I didn't want to go down the 'normal' path and then think: But if I'd just done a bit more - I could have had a slightly better result. I assumed the heads were running out of flow and it always annoyed me - Turns out the previous installer advanced the cam 6 degrees so this is likely why it was coming on earlier and running out of puff earlier than advertised. The body panels were just lack of planning/no information on this anywhere on the internet and the fact they came out different was annoying. From test fitting the guard it appears I could have gotten away with GTR guards only, but I got the bonnet and raisers and everything else as well for a pretty decent package deal.
    • So you had a car that by all accounts drove well and survived track days, and that was looking great after months of being stuck at a paint shop. Some might call that a finished project. But you decided this is not quite right. So now the car does not run anymore. And the engine doesn't fit anymore. And the body parts don't match anymore. But, this is progress somehow. Greg, I think your subconscious does not like you and does not want you to drive this car. (I know I know, this whole escalation was not intended, but man, what a rollercoaster)
    • Yeah, but the narrowband is truly narrowband. So you take it out of the linear zone and it is effectively nonsense. And that linear zone is so literally narrow, that nonsense is not very far away. Unless they are flicking back and forth across the stoich point, for real, under actual control, they can't be trusted for anything except entertainment value.
