Toyata Chasers are a really good car. I have test driven a few. I am going to say Skylines are better, as I have a quite mint late 97' R33 GTST manual sitting in my garage and I drive it every day. I even look foward to getting up every morning to go to work just for the drive.

It is better, cause it is sitting in my garage :D

Hi I own a Chaser Tourer V TRD version (5spd manual), oh by the way I am living in Japan and we see many fast cars here. Anyhow, yeah Skylines are quite fast particularly GTRs.. geeez, I wish I had R34 myself eh, but no money for such an expensive toy, that the 100Jzx was expensive enough for me  Anyhow to be honest with you, Skylines could be faster than chaser, but chaser can be fast too, as Toyota named it to chase the skylines ass. My 100jzx is fast enough though it hasn't got intercooler and after-market Turbo yet, which I am planinig to set very evry soon... :domokun:

wow i had no idea chasers were that quick! Looks like hands down to the chaser. I thought the 1jz's were supposed to be prone to primary turbo failure and wern't that good compared to 2jz etc. You can get 2jz chasers cant you?

I agree that the chaser would be quicker...

However if it is 2.5L then I DONT agree that the chaser has more torque than the RB26 (i could be wrong tho)

I thought they were 3L which would give them a bit more torque down low...

RB26 has something like 411N-m which is awesome for a 2.6L engine. If the chaser has more than this then maybe its running more boost? anyone know what boost they run?

just being twin turbo doesn't make it any better than single turbo really, just improves airflow potential.

Still, I'm not saying its not quicker - it sounds like it is quicker than an auto or manual R33, but not the GTR.

Would never buy one myself though, nor an aristo - they look way too boring. Going fast is one thing, but you have to drive it and be seen in it...

then again, I drive a stagea...so I must admit looks are a matter of personal choice...

The Chaser has a single turbo with vvti which is what gives it the extra low down torque as far as I know. According to Cars-directory.net, the Chaser has a 377.56nm of torque at 2400rpm. The Chaser isn't a heavy car for its size either. It only weighs in at 1470kg.

Thats a huge amount of torque at just 2400rpm - I find that hard to believe...not saying I doubt you though. Just that the only cars I know that have that much torque at such low revs are either diesel or large displacement.

"....the JZX100 and JZX110 series came with VVTi and a single turbo which produced a little more torque, but also much lower in the rev-range. Peak torque was raised marginally in the JZX100 and later models, and occurred at 2400rpm compared to 4800 rpm in the non-VVTi twin turbo engines."

"Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 38.5 kg*m (377.56 N*m) / 2400 rpm"

Those were the sites where I got my info from.

that is only with newer chaser with VVTI single turbo...

max power output at 2400rpm.

non VVTI 1jz is alrite...

I have 1jz cressida...and I also have R33 manual.

R33 got alot of mods...pods, exhast. boosted..etc.

and 1jz cressida is stock as a rock...and it has heaps more torque than r33.

but i have no power at top end with 1jz...maybe need exhaust!

stock 1jz chaser non vvti would kill stock r33.

VVTI leave stock r33 for dead!

I thought we were comparing the JZX100 (which all have VVT-i) to the R33? If not, my bad :)

The Chaser would win.

The 1JZ-GTE in the earlier Chasers/Mark IIs/Crestas were twin-turbo, non VVTi - that's the JZX-80- and JZX-90-series models.

The 1JZ-GTE in the JZX-100 and onwards models was the single-turbo version with VVTi, and they did have more torque than the GT-Rs - at least the R32 and R33 models, not sure about the R34.

The only 2JZ-powered Chasers are non-turbo, as far as I know. Same engine as the JZA-80 non-turbo Supra, the JZZ-30 non-turbo Soarer/Lexus SC300 and the non-turbo JZS-140 and JZS-161 Aristo/Lexus GS300 (including the Aussie-delivered ones).

I can't see myself getting rid of my Stagea any time soon, but if I ever need or can afford a second car, a manual JZX-100 Chaser is at the top of my wish-list!

As ive said -I had a 243 rwkw Series II 33 that ran consistent 12.5s.

The Chaser felt like it had a bucketload more torque and also could put the power to the ground. The skyline turned its 265s at 100 km/h on the freeway.

THe VVTi 1JZ feels like a devil down low. Such low end power, it freaked WRXs and Stageas out ( one particular MODDED stagea indeed got its arse handed to it by my complete complete standard Chaser) - they literally launch like a 4WD car due to low end torque.

Ohh yeah and aristos are boats - why compare a shit car to a good car? Because HPI magazine talked em up so much there meant to be a good thing?? Biggest boat lazy car ive ever driven in my life.
