V35 350gt Coupe Compliance

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Can anyone recommend someone to comply the 350GT Coupe?

I've checked on RAWS and found a few places, but they want $4500 for the work. Edward Lee's want $3500 but I've heard a few horror stories from there. Not for compliance, more so buying cars from them.

Cheers

Bobby

Has anyone heard of GT Complaince in Lidcome - Ross Pendergast?

Just spoke to him, decent price and currently on 1 week turn around.

Oh - and i want to KEEP MY XENONS!

Spoke to SSPI and price and service seem excellent, but as part of complaince they destroy the Xenons.

If I find an already converted pair I can put them on for complaince and then swap back I suppose, but don't think finding V35 Coupe headlights is gonna be easy. :-(

Can't you make a deal with them?

Ripping out Xenon lights on R34s/V35s is a crime

Mate, I'll be doing everything in my power to keep them.

If I can't get around it, I'll probably go down the road of custom fiting halogens before the car goes to complaince and then popping the xenons in once I get teh car home.

I've seen a few headlights on Yahoo Auctions Japan, so I'll see what they go for, and if i get the car for cheaper then what I'm expecting this may be an option.

Do you think dealers that sell V35's will let me borrow the headlights for a fee? May be worth a try?

You may want to try to get the second set of headlights from the USA (G35 headlights).

It maybe cheaper and you can get it yourself (no Yahoo! Auctions middleman).

Also, if you get a new set of headlights, you may as well try getting some 2006 G/V35 lights which have a projector lens instead of reflector. It looks better and give better light output.

However, when they butcher the HIDs I don't know if they destroy the whole ballast unit or just the bulb... You may be out of pocket for the ballast so there's no point purchasing a set of headlights.

Good thing about G/V35s is that there are 2 markets we can buy stuff from.

i'm gonna pop into a few complaince places on the weekend to have a chat and see what my options are.

At the end of the day, would love to keep them and as said will do anything I can to do so, but I'm not about to spend thousands to do so.

I think the money will be better spent on other parts of the car.

Under "Common Law" every part of that car is yours, you can ask for the old tyres back everything, you just need to sign a stat dec saying you took them off the RAW as it is your property and he will file it with all his documents.

You can mod them for H1's with out damaging the HID and then fit them back in quite easy after it has been registered but that is your decision, a good mod cost's around $150 to $200 with H1's still wired in if ever needed.

Thanks DRIFT,

I think I may take that route, and sign the stat dec. Makes no sense to hand over perfectly usable tires.

I'll see how I go with the compliance workshop I end up choosing and take it from there. I've got no issue with paying $150-$200 if that allows me to keep the Xenons. Much cheeper than any other option.

I may be in touch once the car is here to get more info on the mod to H1 if I have any probs.

Cheers

Bobby

What criteria do you have your V35 NISMO?

Oh and sign up to http://g35driver.com/forums/ if you haven't already - wealth of information there.

The only must have at this stage is 6sp manual, and Brembo's.

Colour, for now is first Black, then white. But I'm too impatient so might have to settle for Silver.

Auction grade of at least 4.5

I originally wanted a Premium for the Bose, and Sat Nav, but I've heard that the Bose is not the best, and know that Sat Nav does jack all here, so not too fussed there.

Yeah, I've been on G35 Driver for over a year now. Those yanks make me laugh some times. :-)

Love how they refer to beating someone in a traffic light drag as "Kill Stories"

Guys, another quick question.

I have the latest shape Maxima at home and was wondering, if the wheels are interchangeable with the V35, can i swap these at home and then take the care in for complaince, and this way not have to pay for new tyres?

Is there any specifics during compliance which state you must have the original wheels the car was manufactured with?

Cheers

Bobby

You need new tyres (except for the spare) as part of SEVS.

The rims on the car must be in accordance with the RAWS' sample evidence which was submitted and shown on the vehicle inspection certificate which is submitted to DOTARS. If the RAWS got V35 compliance with Maxima wheels fitted then that would be okay. If there is a discrepancy it wouldn't be allowed.

Thanks guys for all the advice,

I've booked the plates with SSPI.

Spoke to Chris the other day, and spent 5 mins talking complaince, and almost 40mins talking V35's. He's got his own one so that with the feedback on here, I'm confident he can do a good job.

cheers

    • In my case, the standard wheel I had was in good condition but the buttons had more wear, so I swapped them across from the original wheel from the car. What was interesting is the standard style wheel is 2.0kg but the carbon fibre one is 50% heavier at 2.9kg. It even has a weight inside the wheel at the top to make up for some sort of imbalance in the design. weird

Hit the 19mm nut with a rattle gun (preferably) or if you don't' have one, you probably want an assistant to hold the wheel in place while you use a breaker bar to undo the nut Then, screw the nut back on 3 turns, and pull the wheel sharply towards you. If that doesn't work hit it medium force with a rubber mallet on either side, or possible behind if you can get there. If that all fails (it shouldn't!) you might need a steering wheel puller

Either way, I don't like either the flat bottom or thick ring style, so it had to go So...to remove the steering wheel.... First, disconnect battery negative and stomp on the brake pedal for a few seconds. Then, remove the small circular covers on each side of the wheel's rear surround to uncover the airbag clips. You need to push something like a flat bladed screw driver through, to push the steel clip inwards and pull the side of the airbag forward. Once you've done the easy side, same on the centre console side. You can see the tab you are shooting for circled in red Then, disconnect the horn spade connector and for the yellow airbag plug you need to get something small under the black locking tab to pop it out, then the connector releases......airbag is off
