Yeah, unless you have a RAWS certification then you can't... however if you go with J-spec or Risbey then you can personally import one, using their name.

What he meant is you can't apply for import authorisation as you don't have the right certification. But any private importers will be able to do that for you.

Nah, under the old scheme all the paperwork was in your own personal name. You applied for the permit and everything yourself and all the risk was with you. Under the new scheme private imports are only allowed for 15 year old cars and for private cars you owned whilst overseas.

With RAWS, only a RAW can apply for and import a vehicle. The car is in their name at all stages of the import process and all the paperwork is in the name of the RAW. They can certainly import one for you but it just won't be in your name, thats all.

Was it Bill or John who told you that?? On a personal note, SEI motors are quite expensive...

To import you must own and be a RAW, no mention of LMCP anywhere in the RAWS requirements.

Anyway there are currently only 3 RAWS in victoria !

One is cross over car conversions which does JAP stuff and the other 2 are US stuff, left to right conversions on chevy trucks.

But there are more in the process, UPimports will be up and running soon i beleive.
