Personally I like my women much the same.

Oh, sorry, off topic.

Dunno who Ford expects to get near the HCT this year. The Stone Brothers are still in struggle town, the 888 cars have lost the edge they had last year, the DJR cars are on the improve, but. FPV didn't exactly set the world on fire (How much are they paying the bloodnut compared to Frosty?). Best not to talk about the Jones boys at the moment. I imagine Kim Jones will be going completely ballistic - him & his brother don't mind a stoush. The Team Kiwi boys did well (particularly the Rat). But over all it is looking like a bad year for the blue oval brigade.

I have a question. Who are all the black shirted bogans going to support until Perkins & Price get their shit together?

I thought the track was kind of cool. and saw more passing than at most tracks.

The track itself is quite good, with some really good corners, but soon as you go offline its useless due to the amount of dirt/sand that the drivers dump on it when they step a wheel wide. Remember last year (or was it the year before) all the cars braking hard to remove the dirt/sand from their front bars when they rejoined the track, what other tracks does that happen at? I can't think of any.

benm is spoilt though having been raised on eastern creek and oran park GP

I wouldn't say that makes me spoilt, EC is the standard that circuits should be in Australia. Maybe it's time for the v8sc group (tega, avesco or whatever they call themselves these days) to assist the low budge tracks and pump some money into them, it would be a good investment for the future of Australian motor racing. It won't be long until we have just temporary street circuits because the remaining tracks we have are degrading rapily.

I remember tracks like amaroo that were short, but still massive fun.

So do I back in the Group A days when Glen Seton was actually a competitive driver and before EC was built. That was a really great circuit, especially the 2nd half of the track.

Not sure whether you mean the crap from the sand traps, or the genral dirt etc from the track surrounds. Any track offline will be marked by dirt and marbles, so I am not sure I understand the distinction.

Well I was looking through the clubs financial statement for the year the other night (Probabaly need to get out more). Without the income generated by the V8's there would be precious little in the kitty for circuit upgrades. At Wanneroo the crowd for the V8's totals well over 100,000 for the three days (50,000+ for Sunday). By contrast the next best attended even for the year will probably be the Drift Australia round held last month. They got 5000 people (if that) on the Sunday. Ticket prices for the V8's average much more than any other event (nudging $100 for Sunday with a pit pass compared to, I think $20 for the DA round). That is before you factor in the corporate gravey train.

So really the V8's, whilst they are expensive to run & have ongoing requirements in terms of circuit upgrades they do basically allow the circuits to maintain their venues at a good standard.

ben, i was only joking about being spoilt by ec and op. and personally i think you'd have to look hard to find a crappier facility than OP, but i LOVE the circuit itself. and EC is not that shit hot facility wise either. appart from the one small grandstand there is fck all decent spots to spectate.

go to a track day at fuji speedway or suzuka and be blown away by their facilities. it makes our flashiest track look like a go kart track.

freakin tander

i'm one of these wankers who can't look past the disappointment of the events that marred last year's end of season (ie - the lowdnes/kelly schenanigans)

ahh well

we can only hope the ford teams find some form soon!

Well I have some good news. You can stop being a wanker. There are new & improved reasons for despising what the HRT/HSVDT mob are doing to the sport.

The Holden Racing Team have started this year by being in contravention of the Team's Licensing Agreement.

Rumour has it the "agreement" (Apparently not to be called a fine) has cost them of the order of $250,000. Further, Skaife has been thrown off the TEGA & V8 supercar boards & had his two level 1 licenses taken away pending him signing a "deed of agreement."

All a bit gutless if you ask me, not that anyone did. I prefer the arrangement that the HVSDT & HST cars be grouped for testing purposes on the Friday of a race weekend. Fining that lot will only slightly reduce the vast amounts of money sloshing about the place. They should have taken it out of the expenditure cap aswell.

  • 4 weeks later...

That lanky, pimple headed prepubescent has done it again

Bit of a Holden whitewash this weekend. Too bad about Frosty, he was doing well untill he overcooked it on his way to the hairpin. Other than that it was fairly uneventful weekend... unless you were Paul Morris of course

Someone please explain to me the logic behind the points system where two drivers finish the round on the same points and the round win goes to the guy who won the last race. Absolute bullsh!t.

Tander won races 1 and 2, finished on the same points as Rick "every single rule and ajudication has been designed in my favour" Kelly, yet cause Kelly won the last race, he gets the round win.

Once again, the V8's show that just when you think that after changing the points system every year for the last 4000yrs that they would finally get it right, they manage to fu(k up another aspect.

Oh, and Channel 7 making the race 7 or 8 laps shorter without telling the teams so that Perth gets to watch live AFL, really shows the level of commitment we can expect to motor racing.

(just read that back and damn, i'm so bitter this morning I must have raided the neighbours lemon tree in my sleep :-)

It was simply because Tander finished 8th (nowhere) that Kelly won the round. Had GT passed Radisich during the last lap before the premature end of the race he would have won the round. Where there is equal points the person infront at the end wins the day. Yet again Kelly did sod all to deserve anything on the weekend. He was demonstrably slower than Tander all weekend & it was only a botched pit stop that allowed him the win.

On the other side of the ledger Morris, Perkins, Gary Rodgers & Brad Jones all went home with very broken cars. The entrants group bang on about cost control & then happily turn up to circuits knowing they are guaranteed to suffer significant damage. It is probably good that they are leaving Pukekohe before someone gets killed. Unfortunately they are replacing it with yet another stupid bloody street race. Guaranteed carnage to entertain the #@%^wits who "only watch it for the crashes", but a danger to everyone elses wallet & wellbeing.

PS. Make some lemoade?

Already started dude :-)

I'm leaving a trail of lemons everywhere I walk this morning. The pockets are full :-)

Yeah I know Tanders 8th is what screwed him, but what gets me is that the rule is if two drivers are on equal points the winner of the last race wins the round. IMHO, Tander won 2, Kelly won 1. Tander gets the round. :)

You don't need to win every race to win the championship, that has been proved in the past.

RKelly has about as much chance of winning the championship as I have.

The only question that remains is how much daylight will there be between Garth Tander & second place.

Well 888 has sucked wang so far this year. I guess the Stone Brothers motors aren't all that good yet. SBR are struggling & JB's car is no rocket ship in a straight line either. It is odd than when you are at the circuit the only engines with a distinctly different note are the five produced by SBR. Even the Team BOC cars sound the same as everyone elses. Judging by DJR's new found competitiveness with the 888 underpinnings it is hard to point the finger at that.

None of which excuses Lowndes from being hosed by his team mate. But given Frosty is spanking Richards it would appear the way to get people to perform is to pay them less than their team mate.

yeah there are always some nasty crashes at pukekohe. how's the f**king bumps approaching the fast right hander on the front straight!?! crazy.

I wann see my old mate skaife handing out some punishment, but he's going nowhere atm. :P

I think Skaife is a bit busy trying to figure out how the hell he is going to find the money to pay back Tom Walkinshaw. I would hate to see the size of the pineapple, er bill TWR (or Walkinshaw Performance or whatever the post bankrupt organisation is called) sends out each month.

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
    • Nissan needs to forget about building SUVs in every size possible and bring back the damn Silvia/200sx duo to compete with the 86/brz. Maybe with the Honda type r motor pointing the right way
