it depends really, some things they will check in the Scrutineering garage (most parts weight ect) and other parts are continually checked over the weekend in the teams pits.

but then again I have only spent time with the guys at the Clipsal and sandown over the years

always rubbish attendance as it's a rubbish track to spectate at. and we were in the midst of some nasty ass weather this weekend. great track to drive though, and not bad on telly either.

Not having been there I can't comment on the spectating. But Wanneroo was sold out (Saturday & Sunday) weeks before the race weekend.

I am a bit bitter & twisted because the V8's reckion they aren't going back to Wanneroo, the "replacement" street race has a snowballs chance in hell of getting up & even if it did it would be awful (bad circuit) & waste/lose a huge amount of money that could be better spent on improving our permanent facilities. We had a motorsport event in Perth - Rally Australia. The State Government couldn't be bothered running & promoting that properly - so why should this be any different?

I am sure the like of Caterpiller, Fujitsu, Castrol, Toll, SEW Eurodrive & all the other sponsors will be thrilled by the way the V8 mob are treating fans in one of their biggest markets. Maybe things will improve if John Hewson gets Cochrane job. He might introduce a GST or something.

Seperately the WASCC are presently carrying on with all the grace of a bunch of monkeys engaged in a poo throwing competition - presidents resigned, people are getting all lawyered up & a number of folk who have given unstinting service ot the club for many years are decding it is getting all too hard.

Just on another note,,,WE have a CHEATER. Seems 888 got caught using illegal rear discs on Jamie Wincup's car and he has been excluded from race 3.

Talk about premeditated cheating,,,they would have packed them in the transporter with every intention of using them.

But less than 30,000 people on a long weekend is still bloody awful.

As to Neil & the 888 thing.

Why would they deliberately use dodgy rear rotors at Eastern Creek on a bitterly cold bay & then on one car only. Smells like a straight forward fk up to me.

If it was premeditated it wouldn't be the rears it would be the fronts & it wouldn't be at Eastern Creek it would be somewhere like Surfers or in Tassie & even then it would have to be a hot day.

Even so the whole control spec rotors thing has been a debacle.

With 130mm of rain in the 2 days leading up to the weekend the only spectators would have been the die hard fans rather than the general public, why pay $55 for a ticket to stand in rain when they could watch it in the comfort of their own lounge room.

Had it been a typical sat/sun meeting their would have been only half as many spectators again.

The sooner ticket prices come back down to reality (~$30) the better it will be for everyone.

But the ticket prices for the WA round were $69 for the Sunday for general admission. Saturday was $63. Weekend pass was $150 for the three days.

This didn't get you into the pits. That was an extra $33 on the Sunday.

Those prices were if you booked - gate prices were higher.

The thing was sold out (Saturday & Sunday) atleast a fortnight prior to the event.

I'm no fan of cockrane or the arsehole racing drivers club, but you need to add the monday crowd since the 2 main races were then. Not to mention the worst storm to hit sydney over 3 days in 30 years lol.

I like the brake fiasco....perhaps someone should lend them a ruler? I wonder how many times they used illegal ones before they got caught

OK to clear up the 88 brake issue

The Brakes fitted are a different spec used for the Media days when the car is hauling another 100Kg's+ of passanger

the #2 Mechanic fitted them by mistake to Jamies car, In the rush between races replaced them with the wrong set, hence they were only on the rear of the car

from what i'm hearing he is now looking for a new job as he has been replaced for the screw up

unfortunately not, the reports were all incorrect. Which is good as he is leading V8 Supercars to the Noose. Just what Australian Motorsport needs to shake it up and allow it to rebuild ( I hope your happy i had to go on the V8SuperTaxi web site to get that )

Widespread reports that the Chairman of V8 Supercars Australia Tony Cochrane has been removed from his position are incorrect.

The board of V8 Supercars Australia did not meet at the Eastern Creek round of the Championship in Sydney at the weekend as reported . Only this board has the power to make such a decision, if it were to be made.

This is the position of V8 Supercars Australia in all matters on this issue.

Sorry I meant to put Saturday, Sunday, Monday rather than Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I was a day out, but the numbers are correct.

The story on the brakes according to 888 is as follows:

The rotors are last years old stock. They had a drive day for sponsors yesterday & like all the other teams they use up old stock rather than new stuff. So there was a good reason for having the rotors there, but they shouldn't have fitted them.

The Tony Cochrane thing was a wrong report in Motorsport News. Which is a shame because the way he has been carrying on of late I would mind seeing someone a bit more, um balanced looking after things.

I still don't beleive they accidently fitted the wrong discs though,,,then again looking at some of the penalties I think they all might have had there brains water-logged after the big wet.

As for attendances,,,I being an ARDC arsehole had no intention of going anywhere near EC with the weather we had and I'll bet the paying public thought the same.

If you trust the word of 888 and Alcon, there was no advantage/performance improvement from using the old spec discs (older and heavier apparently).

Most teams do hot laps for corporates etc at rounds so I'm inclined to believe they had the old discs with them for this reason- stop being a cynical Grumpy Old Bugger Neily

lol thats a story for another day....neil is an arsehole and I am hoping to become one next year. But in summary, much like CAMS, the ARDC seem to do their best to make club level motorsport difficult and expensive
