I'm also sure there are plenty of drivers with more talent watching the v8s on the tellie this weekend, cos their dad's aren't former champs/ own their own race outfits.

agreed. I mean look at me, and you. i guess we could even inlcude duncan as we will need someone to do our testing miles. bloody rich bastards have ruined motorsport for the poor and talented like me

hmmm taking security a bit far???

The coppers have been behaving like fascists at any and every sporting event since the 1980's. Particularly at Bathurst.

So someone wants to drink too much on top of the mountain, pass out & miss the race. Big deal.

Sure maybe you wouldn't want to take your mum up there, but they aren't rioting & they aren't ferral protesters. Just a bunch of blokes who are a bit rough around the edges & enjoying themselves.

yeah, I'm with you. I mean if johnny bogan wants to get up there, drink 30 beers, smoke a joint, then set off a few bungers I say let him have at it. having gotten it out of his system he will probably be a much more productive member of society and not punch my face in when he thinks I pushed in front of him at burger king.

As long as there are more beanies up there than teeth it will be fine. Perish the thought that Bathurst turns into a mecca for chardonnay sipping socialites. It is not F1 FFS.

Oh and go the #17. I hope the first lap this year will be as enjoyable as last years.

I just want to say. God I love the bathurst 1000. such an awesome track, awesome race. and even if we do just have V8s these days it's still cool as can be. I only wish I was in the hot seat in one of those cars.

mms://mith2.no-ip.org:1112 = Police / Security radio relay

Bigpond 2.5MBit Stream (1000mb/hr)

Bigpond 1MBit Stream (400mb/hr)

The Panel Beaters live show was just on the Bigpond Stream, Tony Cochrane said that the extra police presence is overkill and wants to know why the water cannon truck is there because he isn't aware of any wet tshirt competitions...

Well after todays happenings I'm a happy little shit.

Frosty's TQ,,,what a great driver. No dads funds used here. This little brat that has done it all on his own merits. Love his comment after prov pole "If thats as fast as I can go I better go home now". Murph's record could be under threat.

Geoff,,,I need to clarity something mate,,,I'm not the one saying I'll run down conrod absolutley naked if Junior finishes in the top 3. Ben and Strategically placed something/Chardonnay drinking Kelly have both put their hands up!!! with copies from the multy video cameras capturing all their actions. Kel just in case you haven't seen the results from today,,,he's made the shootout,,,Feeling nervous yet?.

Ben,,,you've put your balls on the line so to speak,,,so who's your top three?. I agree Jacks just little shit,,,but who the hell would want to drive for Larry,,,the grumpy old fart,,,his got more attitude than me.

Duncan,,,your just a closet fag.

Neil.

In a perfect race it would be Tander, Skaife, Lowndes however bathurst always throws up a few curve balls so im going to say Lowndes, Murphy, Skaife.

Just heard on the radio that Steven Johnson just smashed going up the mtn straight in this mornings practice session caused by a rear brake issue.

just got off the phone, JNR crashed heavily and the car may not be back this afternoon for the shootout.

If i was DJR i would look into investing a better braking system they have been let down all year by them.

could be a bad race tomorrow..hrt, hsv and fpv are almost a second clear of the rest of the pack

assuming there is no problems for any of them they will just tootle around in the top 5 and then really race for the last 10 laps :)

Tander/Kelly will grab the lead on about lap 10 and Skaife/Kelly will just sit 2-3sec behind until the first batch of pitstops. Frosty will run wide in the marbles sometime in the first few laps and let the HRT/HSV pair through. Murphy will drop back to about 12th but be back in the top 5 in the last 30 laps when it all counts.

Oh, they aren't my opinions... i've already downloaded the race off the internet and watched it !

can anyone tell me why it was safe to drive past mcconvilles car on the first lap, on cold tyres and with drivers not knowing where it was - but it is not safe to do a second lap with warm tyres and the drivers knowing where the stopped car was.

typical commercial considerations coming before safety again

Or the fact that it was a SuperCheap car so all that exposure for the naming rights sponsor!

But anyway is this F1 or do the drivers know how to overtake :(

Yeah with about 10 laps to go I had the waxing pot out and plugged in but put it away with about 5 laps to go :)

Lowndes: Well done you did nothing wrong all day.

Courtney: Strong car but never looked like winning.

Johnson: Close but no cigar, but atleast DJR will be around next year now hehe.

Murphy: Podium would have been nice but a good result considering your last few years.

Ingall: Sucked in dickhead.

Skaife: Have the speed and reliabilty but luck just isn't on your side lately.

Edit:

Bright: The race was yours if you put on wets instead of slicks.

    • What makes you say CD009 boxes are not as strong as you would think? I've always been told the last revision (CD00A) is good for 1000whp and I have no issue's believing it when comparing one side by side with an RB25 box. Makes them look tiny.
    • I picked up an open Center with shafts. I was told the Open shafts will fit a mechanical LSD and looking at them. I think they will work. Will update
    • The manual says a lot about the different ratios requiring different shafts. all the Centers are the same but depending on the ratio, this determines the shafts because different ratios need the center to be offset more or less or right to left.
    • those 2 sets of shafts will not interchange and if you’re lucky you haven’t damaged anything with all your pressing and bashing you said you’ve done
    • Freshly built stroked RB25/28. Motor runs great but consumes a lot more oil then It should. This summer with the heat I was consuming roughly a quart per 1800-2000kms. Now with the cold weather coming in, I'm consuming a quart per 1000kms which is no bueno. I had originally chalked this out to break in taking a little longer then it should, but I'm now around 4000km's on this engine. I think it's fair to say something isn't quite right. Here's the kicker, can't find what's causing it. I've also spoken to my engine builder and Precision Turbo and can't figure it out. Here's my train of thought on possible causes and what I've done.  Precision Turbo - I originally started thinking my oil pressure might be a tad too high for my 6466 Gen2. I took the center cartridge out, and while yes there's signs of oil on the turbine heatshield, it's very moderate. There's also very minor in/out play that concerns me. I sent pictures and videos to precision and they said the residue and in/out play is minimal and they doubt this is the issue. For piece of mind, I went ahead and installed a Turbosmart OPR V2 to bring oil pressure down. Made no difference. Precision is willing to take it in on RMA for an inspection and I'll probably take them up on that offer for peace of mind. BTW. Is it just me or does the turbines inducer's look clipped and not even between each other? I just noticed this now while posting and looking at the picture zoomed in. Might just be the picture...  Rings - Hot compression test and leak down test look good. Compression is 160 +-2psi across the board. I leak down at 16% on cyl 1,2,3,5,6 and 18% on cyl4. Keep in mind I have a snap on leak down tester and they read high (I.E, 15% on my wifes 2018 Sentra with 70000kms). Sparkplugs show minimal oil (Only #4 seems to have a tad). At a quart per 1000km's though, I would be expecting them to be wet. Here's the kicker, I run WMI. I'm thinking what if my compression rings are great, but I have an oil control ring issue on cyl4 and my WMI is steam cleaning the pistons and sparkplugs? I can still see the "Spool" logo on top of my CP pistons. The only time I see smoke out of the exhaust is in the high rpm/load range. So far, this is my main culprit. I'll probably turn off my WMI and go out with the car at spring pressure tomorrow and repull the plugs. Other thing that's strange though is that I have never seen any oil in my catch can. Thing is still dry after 4000kms. Cyl1 - Left, Cyl6 - Right. Valve seals - They're new and I would expect oil consumption on idle, first cold start or during decel. None of which is happening.  Crankcase pressure - I have 2x 10an valve cover lines to a vented catch can. Head drain and opened up internal oil drain paths. I also don't run E85. I've never seen any oil in my catch can. Doubtful this is causing any issues.  Rear main seal - I have no visible leaks, but figured maybe it was my rear main seal. After now having added 2-3 quarts, I would expect oil to leak out the bottom drain channel and/or my clutch to be slipping.  Let me know your thoughts. With winter coming and taking the car off the road until spring, I'm fine with pulling the motor apart but I would hate to take it all apart and the turbo was the issue in the end.
