Earls Oil Cooler

Own an R32 GTR, came with Earl's remote oil filter, now looking to add a cooler.

Plan on staying with Earl's products, and now need help deciding which parts to select.

1. Which size oil cooler would best suit the gtr, used for track meets, not really racing, 5-7 laps max type thing & where should I mount it?

2. How long are the hoses I will require? Filter mounted on strut tower in usual spot.

3. Hoses I am currently using are an Earl's stainless braid. No idea of the measurements, what diameter lines should i get for the cooler and is it worth upgrading all lines to the better quality product on the earl's website?

4. Any advice on fittings? Planning to just run with what they recommend.

5. Anyone know if the earl's sandwhich plates ever have guage outputs on them? Haven't made the effort to have a look at mine, doesn't appear hopeful. Are the Just Jap plates alright?

I dont think earls make thier own oil coolers, they are just spearco coolers, hence they are quite expensive. There are plenty available from just jap and the like for much less. Best off fitting the coolerm then measuring what length hoses you need. No need to upgrade the hoses as long as their in good nick, so check them for abrasion. Really good idea to fit an oil cooler thermostat, mine was $120 from motorsport connections, that means that you can fit a bigger oil cooler without danger of overcooling or taking a long time for the oil to heat up. I think my cooler is about 28cm x 18cm.

If your relocation block already uses earls fittings then maintain the same size hose, remove the one running from the outside at the filter end to outside on the block and keep the inner as is. You want to run the other hose from the block end to the cooler and then from the cooler back to the filter.

Personally, I'd buy a core and mount it, then use something like a garden hose or heater hose to get a measurement once you run it where you want it. It will also give you a better idea of the angles you need for the fittings. Obviously fittings will need to match the hose size and threads of your core and filter mount.

Decide where you want to mount the core first as that will determine your maximum size and go from there. If you get a big one (id class adrianos as big) for mounting between the radiator and intercooler then a thermostat is a good idea. If you have a smaller core that mounts in front of the wheel in the quarter panel you can get away without a thermostat.

As for sensor mounts, i'd assume it has some on the relocation block atleast, if not the block adapter. You can always have it drilled and tapped to suit assuming there is enough meat there, or have a block made up to mount inline.

im asuming youve got 5/8 hose. -10an

youl need 2 90 degree hose ends. and 2 45 degree ones at the least.

the fittings arnt cheap and are about 40-80 each. (tighter the bend the more expencive)

hose is around 30-45 a meter. youl need 2-3 to be safe.
