Hi people,

I have a 4door 34GTt, i currently have king springs but am not happy with the 'lower' ride height (especially the rear, sits about 5mm higher than front so the car looks jacked up at the bac at times).

Just wondering if;

1) I should invest in some coilovers (although I don't plan on using the car on the track and am worried about ride quality). Any1 have comments about HSD HS series coilovers or the G4 street spec?

2) Invest in king spring super lows ( i have seen another 4door 34 with them and looks great, however i'm concerned about bottoming out and the springs not being captive)

3) Just get the rear king springs i have put thru the furnace and reset 5mm lower?

I must mention that the king springs do give a nice ride and better handling when matched to the factory KYB shocks.

Cheers and thanks for any help/suggestions.

1) I would invest in the Whiteline/Bilstein groupbuy. Very good quality shocks, gives a really comfortable ride and handles really well on the street. Better than any other "coilover" I've experienced.

2) Sounds like you've still got stock shocks. Lowered springs + stock shocks is a bad idea. Have a read of this thread

3) Resetting springs is not the best idea.

Thanks for the link, so i guess its not a good idea to go for the King Super Low springs?? (my front shocks are brand new and my rears aren't that old either). Also I have had the lowered spring/standard shock combo on my 180sx and silvia without any hassels (however never went super low due to warnings about stuff such as explained in the article). By the way the damage to the castor rod bushes shown are quite common even on imports with standard suspension. Seen it on my skyline, 180 and silvia when they still had standard suspension....just wear and tear....replace with polyurethane

Is there a reason that the 34 sits a bit higher in the back?? Or is it just my imagination??

Why is resetting by 5mm a bad idea???

What are the actual ride heights, centre of wheel to guard on all 4 corners? For Kings lows it should be around 355 mm at the front and 345 mm at the rear. Super Lows are ~15 mm lower than that. It is not unusual to see Super Lows used in the front and Lows used in the back of 4 doors. To allow for the load carrying, rear pasengers and a full boot.

Since the rear guards are cut lower than the front guards, the correct way to measure rake is at the sills just behined the front wheels and just in front of the rear wheels. Slightly nose down is the best for handling, around 5 to 10 mm.

:( cheers

Thanks mate!! Appreciate the time taken to help me out. Fronts are about 350mm and rear is 355mm. That was why i was thinking of getting the rears reset by 5mm. Or mayb have a made to order set sent over from king springs??

Still considering coilovers or maybe the Bilstein/Whiteline some suggested.

It really needs to come down 10 to 15 mm in the rear.

Something for you to think about. The Bilstein shocks in the Group Buy have additional circlip grooves so that you can set the ride height to where you want it before you install them. I can tell you what height each grooves gives.

 cheers :D

OK!

Would I be OK just buying the shocks and keeping the current King Springs as I can't see a huge difference between them and whiteline (do the whiteline springs sit the 34 lower at the bac?)

Also what would a set of 4 Bilsteins cost and would it be a problem if i only bought the rear shocks for now? I am located in Perth WA......do you guys deal/recommend any1 here??

Cheers :O
