gonna get my clutch and flywheel changed soon. appart from the thrust bearing what other stuff do i need to replace while im at it?? i know there some spigot or needle bearing that needs to be replace. anything else like seals and stuff?

cheers

yep also replace the spigot bush and replace the front seal on the gearbox as the no1 cause for worn clutches is oil...

Id only replace the seals if they are leaking. Definitly replace the spigot bush and thrust bearing.

Thing with seals is if you put a new one in it might leak! If you leave the old one that is not leaking it usually won't leak!

My theory is if it aint broke dont fix it!

The gearbox front input and tail shaft seals arn't worth much.

Consider the clutch will be in there for another 60-100,000km's so its probably worth while doing the seals now.

When I first bought mine I had the clutch done. No leaks. No less than 20,000km's later I noticed a little drip from the front of the gearbox. A stuffed input shaft seal. 'Bastard'. Do it while its out!

I got that replaced then a year later the output shaft seal was nacked. Then 3rd gear got munched so I didn't worry about it. :)

So........

Input shaft seal and gasket

Output shaft seal

Spiggot bush

Hardened pivot if your running a 1000kg+ clutch.

Maybe a new slave cylinder they are only $30-$40 odd.

Check gearbox mount as often than not if you've been giving it a bit of a hard time it will be busted.

and some good castrol synthetic or redline gearbox oil.

Reweld up the pedal box at a later date if you wish. With heavy duty 800kg+ clutches its just a matter of 'when' they pop the spot welds. Should cost no more than $30 to reweld. + labour for in and out if you can't be bothered laying on your back for 30mins.

I'll grab one just for curiosity.

Did you grease it up a touch before hand? Where do u get them for $10?

Being Nismo I assume Nissan sell them?

yeah only on the inside though were the rollers are. (used some very good and very expensive landrover grease $300 a tube from my 'mate' :ninja:)

i got them from 3lit3 32

think he would have them for a 33? for 10bucks ill give it a crack too.

oh yeah thanks for the info cubes. ill be getting an exedy cushion button, dont know what pressure its running but will get the fork welded anyways just to be sure.

With the roller bearings you really should get an oil seal ring for it as well.

Mazda do it that way.

Ive had one fall apart and go all through the clutch when a workshop that won't be named put a 13bt in my rx7. they didn't put a seal in, 20k later bearing ran dry and died and i drove home with the clutch stuck half way (lots of slip). That was the day i found they'd installed an 8 inch plate instead of an 8.5 as well ;)

they go into the end of the crank, so 1 size fits all

got any pics of this oil ring? i dont see how u can run one, caus the input shaft has to go in and out of it, and therfore u cant have it sealed off. or can you?

the grease i used was some bearing grease that they use on the wheel bearings on the landrovers etc
