Compression Test Results

AS the topic states.

Anyone who did a comp test on their stock R33 before they modded it post it up.

I did mine recently before I threw on some mods. all mine had was the HKS from the turbo back with SuperDragger Exhaust. running stock boost etc. etc.

I got 175-175-175-175-175-175 all pots , I was definently pleased with that they were nice and even.

When I was chatting with a GTR owner recently he seemed to think that was incorrect. Or that my internals are not stock for that compression test.

So went back to my mates shop did another same result. Now he uses top quality snap-on equipment so I'm sure all the readings are correct.

Just wanted to do a Comparison to anyone elses results.

Mine got 175 with the throttle wide open, 160 with throttle closed r32GTR

8.5:1 compression RB26DETT

9.2:1 or something on RB25DET

So either you did test with throttle closed or you have a lower static comp ratio?

who are you talking about. ME. i did it with throttle closed i think. Humm will do again tonight. But the range is 1.2 MPa which is 175pis, that is NEW from facotry. Limmit is 0.9 MPa, so that is 130 Psi with 0.1 MPa differance between. So still sweet. My engine has done 80K so expect lower compresion.

BTW mine is for an R33 GTST 95 series

can any car workshop/garage do one of these? is it cheap? i wouldn't mind just getting one done to see my engine is like.

is it a very good indication of how healthy an engine is?

Videospace, were they done with throttle open?

And did oil get put in cyl to see if it was piston, rings etc?

32gtr rb26dett limits from memory are:

171 new

160 avg

125 limit

no more than 14psi variance,(146,160)

Yep. Idle is crap. When it is cold it misses a lot. When it is warm its very hard to tell there is anything wrong. The idle is still not brilliant when it is warm but otherwise the power is OK and everything else.

And yes the 6th cylinder was 150 too (sorry guys).

And yes we did try a "wet test" with a t-spoon of oil and the compression improved. Rings it is. Rebuild away! I am considering a swap with a R33 RB26.

so this test is around $70 and most car garages can do it? or do you need to go to a special place? Keen to see how my engine is doing. Might do one of those leak down tests too, someone mentioned above.

oh well vidospace, now you can build whatever engine you want.

N1 block ftw!! :P

    • Yours would only have been worse, because I've spent 2 weeks cleaning mine. And yet it barely looks any different... Ha ha ha The work bench is unusable as things are stacked so high on it, as it down each walk way between the cars. And on one of them. And inside the other... And under one of them... These days when working in the garage, I need to roll the Subaru out. Because the "workshop" portion is just so full of stuff... To do anything means to move lots of stuff...   But I recently got rid of a full rack of fish tanks, and a few more. Then have started just throwing shit that's actual rubbish. And trying to sort everything else! Ha ha ha   Needing to move the Lathe into its proper spot, and then move all the other gear like the press, compressors, welding trolleys.   And let's not talk about the camping gear... I want to get rid of it, the GF wants to go camping... I think I'm getting to old to want to camp these days   Oh, I also evicted a few things, like the motorbike outside ages ago too! Ha ha ha This is all in a 6x9
