tmc_2
Hi guys, When i had my power fc tune my tuner advised i have a slightly leaking injector in cylinder 1. He said its nothign to worry about at this starge but may cause it to idle at bit rough. Has any one experienced this type of proplem? Does any one know what effects it could have? wher eits headed or what caused it? Im guessing Age and prob slightly clogged? Thanks in advance. CEF11E
dangerous, very dangerous. get it replaced right away if enough fuel leaks out and causes a vapor it could ignite with turbo under bonnet temps. I had the same problem and replaced the injector without driving the car. tmc_2
Soryr just to clarify it is not leaking in the engine bay. Its leaking in the cylinder, the injector is not closing off prrperly and leaking more petrol than it should on ideal in cylinder one. No chances of a engine bay fire. Cubes
Depends how bad.. Fuel leaks from the injector especially when the cars off.. Dilutes your oil and the oil no longer does its job properly. No first hand experience. Probably not that bad but its worth getting it sorted. tmc_2
Is the fix as simple as a sonic injector clean? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/159597-injecotr-prob/#findComment-2965183 Share on other sites
Cubes
A clean will tell you if they really are leaking. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/159597-injecotr-prob/#findComment-2965200 Share on other sites
R33fourdoor
If it's anything like mine was when I had the injectors cleaned and re-installed, the leak was so bad that the engine hydraulic locked when I turned it over on the starter motor! Was caused by a leaking O-ring which was nicked when one of the injectors was being put back in. There was another which must have had a very slow leak and this only felt like a slight hesitation or "tight spot" when starting the motor in the morning. Noticed no effect at all once the engine was running. If the injectors are dirty and/or leaking while running you would expect this to have some impact on your economy also.
