Hi guys,

I liv ein brisbane and i am about to purchase a turbo for my r33.

I have been trying to decide what set up to go for for 2 months now.

I am thinking a slide highflow either a max rb25 over size or a vg30 max over size.

i like it becasue of minimal fuss bolting it up.

My Tuner recommends a gt30r and installing a thicker headgasket.

Now this is a lot more costly and if i can make a realible 250rwk with a slide highflow with supporting mods

then id rather do that.

I wanted to ask if any one has a slide highflow in brisbane that i might be able to see in person or meet at a cruise some time? i think seeing one perform in the flesh will help me decide what to buy more comfortably.

So far i have

rebuild forged pistons

PFC

walbro pump

metal intake pipe

FMIC

Catch can

I will be installing injectors and Greddy fwd facing intake and sllpit dump at time of turbo install.

And below a pic of the car.

Thanks in advance guys

Much the same situ as me bloke. I drove a lot of peeps nuts with questions before i made my choice.

My mod list will be much the same as yours sans forged bottom end and my goal is 250 plus rwkw with as little lag as possible and fat fat torque. After speaking to members tuners and arron I ordered his stage 3 jobbie. All evidence points to this unit doing excactly what i want. GL with your decision.

Fine Line,

Thanks,

Make sure u kepe us posted how u go after install.

I want to see a stage3 in the flesh pumping over 235rwk reliably then i will be sold. i can live with 235kw from a stage3.

If any one has a slide highflow id really appreciate it if i can meet you out on a cruise some time to see it first hand, seat of the pants whould be great .

:)

By stage 3 we mean the maxrb25 highflow.

DAN666

Im leaning towards the vg30 max oversize!

Im prob just over analysing??? i really want to have good response and performance wiht a 250rwkw power figure.

Injectors & AFM on the cards for sure!

Dan what tubz u running?

Thanks Noel, mmm when he first started I was considering one and at that time he said he could do a 270 degrees bearing for an extra 300? but I never followed up on it.

This mod deal is like getting presents. you dont know whats in there till you open it up.

To a man everyone says that with the mods we are using (or going to use) 250 rwkw is a shoe in. However, There are cars out there carrying these mods or more which arent making those figures.

Still the great unknown (for me at least) is the puda. i simply cannot get a definitive answer. I would like to know excactly what are the desirable features in an engine management system and which if any of the known brands have all the fruit.

Id be keen to buy a better bearing i guess for abit extra like that.

I guess i will decide in the next 2 weeks.

Id be realyl keen to see one in action if any one in brisbane has one!

I pedalled Lazy bastards 33 last week with this same type of mod setup tmc. It hauled arse through the midrange. very useable power. Very impressive.

Id be keen to hear from lazy bastard33 and toy-33, be good to see there set ups in action.

Migh shoo them a pm if they dont join in on the thread :D

im really for hte slide due to cost, but for an extra 600 if the GCG one shows its worth i might consider it.

Useable power is what i am aiming for mainly.

i have a max size slide highflow - 231kw at the wheels on mercurys dyno

couldn't get the vg30 as he was out of stock of exhaust housings, has he found more supplies now?

so like 180 rwkw everywhere else?? :D :D

What boost are you running for that figure Izaac? I am assuming there is a bit more left in it?

lol true :( i wonder why old men in camrys still outpowah me :(:P

15psi, yes plenty more but requires upgrade to fuel system as the injectors are near maximum duty cycle. I run stock injectors, stock regulator with a walbro.

its really really really hard to go past a powerfc

theres a reason we all use them hey?

i saw your comment in the other thread, tuners for powerfcs will be around as long as you own your car

    • Reasonably hard, although I haven't run it with the new Endless setup yet. The old brakes were F50's on 335mm rotors and the car did a 1:40.6 at Phillip Island which is a reasonable time, I'm seeing high 600s on the temperature paint. A guy I know ran the Endless fluid at WTAC without issues and he was doing 1:33's I think (Evo) with a 355/332 setup. I don't get out to the track as much as I'd like but we put the car on the hoist and spanner check every bolt and re-paint mark everything, bleed the brakes, change the fuel, check the coolant system and re-bleed blah blah blah before every event. Motorsport is expensive, RB's are expensive so a couple of hours before an event is time well spent. It's also a net time saving because if you can keep your RB from self destructing it saves you time in the long term!
    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
