Hey guys i have a r33 skyline, its my second r33, mods are

Power FC

rebuilt forged pistons

pod filter,

JustSR metal intake pipe,

FMIC

walbro pump

boost 10psi

bov

Now had my power fc tuned car feels great.

only thing when i am in secdon then accelerate full throttle it feels flat and the car is not breaking tracktion or any hint of it.

Now my last r33 wiht stock ecu would almost break tracktion if i did this.

If i fast change full tgrottle to second it will wheel spin. Or is i puck the cluck then dump second it rockets off.

Its got me thinking maybe when i just put my foot down it uses a different point of the mpa so can be tuned out?

ANy one have any ecperiecnce with what i mean?

Sounds to me that its not tuned properly. change your fuel filter and plugs and gap them to .8.

You really need to get a wide band air fuel ratio meter on it and check how it is running to fix these kinda problems.

IF you wanted to try adding 4deg of timing over all and see if it changes the situation at all - check the power fc faq it should tell you how to do it in there from memory you go to settings then ign/inj then change the timing to +4 (remember that every time you turn the car off this setting gets reset back to 0)

if its heaps better then you need to really put a wide band on it and retune the whole ecu

ALSO what size are the wheels on your car? and what size were they on the old car? bigger wheels make the car feel doggy - dont forget that.

what compression ratio is the engine ?? do a compression test and tell me what the reading is.

Thanks Guily-Toy.

I don tknow the compression ration of the engine sorry, im assuming its standard comp.

I have 18/235 wheels previously had 17/245 on 1st r33.

i tried 1degree (i know stuff all) of advance timming over whole map, made maybe small difference and knock did not increase at all. I will try more timming tonight and see how that goes.

Its retarded in that particular section of the map. Poor tune really.

You will find whoever has tunned it probably did the cruise/high load stuff and didn't bother to get the rest of the map sweet.

Do a map trace and drive the car around for 15mins. You will find the majority of cells have been tagged. It can only take a small section of the map to be way wrong and the general feel of the car turns to crap.

tyres/suspension would be a far more governing factor there.

Im with Cubes here

I had over 250rwkw and never had traction issues.

With a stock ECU i wouldnt even think a car would be breaking traction unless the tyres fitted were just below par

I know tryre/suspenson will effect this.

I dont mean break traction as wheel spin, more so when u plant on it in second it will rocket off and u will feel the tyres slightly breaking traction then griping. Or when i am turning into a street and u give it say 1/2-2/3 throttle the last r33 would break tracktion. This one doesnt.

I am guessing it feels like that point in the map is not tuned the best.

AHID i will take u up on that offer if i havent had it to the work shop by then :worship:

Quite possible your old diff was opening wheeling a touch then.

Especially if it would break traction/chirping and not step the arse end out at all.

As said.. in second especially an r33 with those mods shouldn't be chirping the tyres as it accelerates. I don't mean chirp when you change gear but a constant chirp chirp chirp chirp as you accelerate. Road surface also makes a massive difference to grip.

R31Nismoid a mate since he fitted new tyres (nankang ns2's lol) it generally doesn't break traction in second gear with his rb30det gt35r gts4 (in RWD mode) making 270rwkw. Well some times depending on road surface it will ever so slightly spin towards the end of second gear at around 5500-6000rpm but regardless thats making close to 200rwkw at 4000rpm so if anything that should break traction.

Pretty similar to what mine was like :worship:

Only the very top end of 2nd or 3rd
