Have been with Just Cars on and off since 2002 and paid $2500 roughly for my first STOCK 180SX but I was only 20 at the time and had never had full comp insurance before. Start of last year I got my Stagea and hadn't been with Just Cars since 2004 and got an agreed value of $22,000 rating 1 protection and all mods listed for a meesley $936.00 I have never had a problem with them and won't change unless I have to. Mind you after just turning 25 last weekend I may call Shannons when my insurance is due next to see what they offer. I will admit that Just Cars excesses are pretty high (like $350 normal, $350 age, $400 due to being an import) which have to be paid at all claims except the age excess if you not at fault. Then if you have a fairly extensive mod list they will throw an extra $350 to $400 at you again. But since there is basically next to no competition out there for new or bad drivers and import owners etc etc then they can pretty much charge what they want. If more competition were to come on to the market then you'd find premiums and probably excesses would drop.

Jarryd,

I ended up calling custom car insurance after you mentioned them to me and they wanted something like 1700 for me to insure my car with them, and i have never had an accident nor a speeding fine or red light camera infringement.

And mine is an S1, and that is more than what just car quoted me for full comp

I suspect that one of the problems some of you are having is something you can't do much about (well not very quickly) ie age! ie my stagea is insured with Just (and it is a 2001 series 2 fours s) and costs us about $1k per year. But nobody under 40 is driving the car...

And we have used Just when we have had to make a claim too - a few years ago with a different car (hit a kangaroo out the back of NSW) - and they were quite good.

i am with vigil car insurance, formerly unique car insurance

have been with them for a year and a bit, with my r32, and now my stag.

was expensive-ish with the 32, was around the 1800-2000 mark, went down as rating went down.

now with the stag, i pay $960 full comp. im 22, with 2 speeding fines and no accidents

pretty good considering my age, only downfall is that i cant pay monthly, only quarterly half yearly or yearly.

btw, custom car insurance sucks the wang, they f**ked me around pretty good lol

I asked for a quote from Vigil, and they said I was too great a risk for them to insure me. I'm 24, no accident history, but a couple of speed fines almost 3 years ago still on my record. I've asked them to please explain why I'm such a great risk but it sounds like you have a pretty sweet deal.

I'm 29, 60%NCB - with just cars @ $1080 p.a for $22000 incl all my mods (rb26/man/brakes etc). Thought that was ok compared to my 87 supra with similar mods cost $1400p.a valued at $9500 thru same company

    • I ❤️ Matty I would like to thank Matty for going out his way in securing me a OEM NC detachable hard top for the NC Matty, your worth your weight in gold, and I cannot say how much I really appreciate your outstanding help I'll get it colour matched once I pick it up sometime in Dec-Jan 😁
    • We have some genuine Japanese legally decommissioned car number plates now in stock 🙂 Add some legitimately obtained JDM style to your Skyline or other Japanese model, or simply as a garage/man cave decoration! About the 40mm hole: The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport in Japan recognised the popularity of keeping decommissioned plates among car enthusiasts and came up with a method to "destroy" (or render them unusable for street use) while still retaining their collectable/usable value for display etc.  We have 40mm hole covers available to cover the hole nicely with a Sakura motif, which are also available in white in (very!) limited quantities, however they frequently sell out. Please let me know if you're wanting one or more of these and I'll check availability. The Sakura motif covers are more common. https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-decommissioned-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-set-su-7515 https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-decommissioned-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-set https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-400mm-hole-cover *Please note that we can't obtain particular number or area name (eg: "Gunma 500 Fu ・86") if requested. All plates are provided as they become available after decommissioning.
    • Ah, fair enough. For the IAT, I'm using a legit GM sensor that was used on the car prior to my current build. I'll get another wideband and IAT ordered and follow up when they show up. Thanks for the help.
    • You shouldn't need to massively fatten up the mixtures for cold conditions. For one thing - 0°C is not that cold. For another, the Haltech will be using the IAT sensor to tell it how dense the air air, and calculate the correct amount of fuelling. Then the cold start enrichment is added as a % on top of that, so it should scale with the main fuelling. You might also doubt the IAT sensor at this time. You're not using one from an RB26 are you? Using a nice Bosch sensor or similar? Happens. Some wideband units take great pleasure in killing their sensors. Put another wideband in the tailpipe and compare. Or just swap the sensor to a brand new one and see.
    • Oh, my misunderstand. When the car was running, it sounded ok, but if I gave it any gas it wanted to die but caught itself afterwards. It's very different from how it was a couple months ago when it was warmer outside. The logs show that the AFRs are better during, what I assume, is warmup enrichment. Because it's cold, and air is more dense, should I work on the enrichment bit?
