Spoke to the good folk at Slide on the gold coast yesterday (plug for them, very friendly and patient folk) and i think I have found what I am looking for. I refuse to be raped by the gougers trying to double their money on power fc's hence my incessant search for a viable alternative.

Link have a new model called the G3 that can do it all. Large capacity, knock sensing, full range (inc cold start tuning) More pickup points than a cross hooker, 3d ma etc etc.

Now I know sweet fanny adams about electronic crap and i was wondering if anybody had had any experience or knew anything about this unit. for the people down there to say that this thing can stand beside the motech from a hipo standpoint and still be infinitely street tuneable is a strong claim. Especially when it retails around the 1400 dollar mark.

if its all true they can shove the power fc where the sun dont shine. If not....Back to the drawing board. :P

it's the old find the best tuner you can and then buy what he prefers to tune :P I am interested in these ecu's aswell but very few people have experience with them yet

2 tuners that are happy to work with them CEF. Gavin Woods (whom I have no experience with) and mark at tony motsons. This guy I trust implicitly. Had him do a puda upgrade on my 4.8 litre patrol and the results were more than satisfactory.

if you wanna go with a link, id be having a chat to mark motson at motsons (beaudesert road)

hes totally awesome as a mechanic, and if he supported powerfcs, i woudl have gone to him

he suggests and tunes links, will definately be able to help you out

my bro in law is just about to sign up with an autronic smc for his ca18det powered 180

it looks ok as well, not sure how its features compare to a powerfc, i think it costs a little more

was slightly disappointed that mark doesnt tune powerfcs

and when i was searching around for an ecu a few years back, nearly bought a link just so mark would tune it

at that stage though, the powerfcs were miles in front, so couldnt pass up on them

still hard to . .. . .

Loud and clear spook. If the power fc was still available i would definitely run with it but. as i said, i refuse to be raped by gougers on a product that probably cant be serviced if something goes wrong. I too have huge respect for mark and thats another reason why i am happy that link have upgraded to a more street friendly unit.

as ive said to you before though noel

very rare for anything to go wrong with a powerfc (unless you fiddle with it) and tuners will be around for them longer than you will own your car

if you are going to end up paying an approximate price for a lesser unit, just swallow your pride and get a pfc

for years, they have been the optimum unit for our cars (for cost) for a reason

All good spook. I wont buy the power fc on principle. I would shell out for a motec before i let one of those bastards rape me. Fortunately i dont think i have to go to that extreme.

Another point to consider with ECU's other than the PFC is their plug and play ability. Is the Link a direct plug-in to the factory loom? (I have no idea) or are you going to be paying hundreds of extra $$$ to have it wired in?

If the latter is the case, it almost defeats the purpose IMO. $1400 for the ECU + ~500 for it to be wired + tuning on top of that = PFC even at current prices is going to work out cheaper.

I'm not trying to sway you either way Noel, just making sure you are aware there may be additional expense involved with a non plug and play option.

Its plug and play Lazy. Comes with a loom adaptor to suit the application.

The confusion ends.

Link ECU's are a plug in replacement ECU for your standard and are map sensor based.

The item arrives as the board and all that is required is that your standard ecu pcb be removed and the link put in to replace it.

Retaining the standard ECU case ensures no police trouble :)

They are one of the best ECU's i have tuned with and the software that is included with them makes it very simple to tune if you understand the principals.

All links sold now are using the G3 chip except for a few WRX versions which the older versions can still be purchased.

Even with large injector upgrades without touching the computer the car WILL start unlike the Power FC which requires work with the adjustment of Injector size within the FC.

We have a couple of 2nd hand Power FC for sale at the moment however if upgrading past 230rwkw map sensor based computers will end up cheaper due to them not requiring an AFM upgrade.

If anyone has any questions please dont hesitate to send us a PM or come visit us at the shop.
