basically guys i purchased this diff http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...l=nismo+1.5+way almost a year ago now and for many reasons i've only just gotten round to installing it. I decided to take it to a diff specialist to install it and as soon as he looked at it he said 'mmmmm this doesn't look to be a mechanical diff at all' once he took it apart it definitely wasn't and as you can imagine i was more than a little pissed off.

basically i'm wondering if any of you know this guy? or any more contact details for him?

the only contact details i have for him is:

MR A. Ryan

PO box 29

Park Orchards

Victoria

3114

[email protected]

I've sent him an email but have not yet received a reply.

I haven't gone to the cops yet, i've decided to give this guy 1 week to give me my money back.

So if you are mates with this guy or know anything about him please let me know here or by pm.

If any of you have some suggestions of what i should do now that would help too!

Much appreciated, Ash!!!

i've managed to get his mobile number, he's saying that he's crashed his gtr and doesn't have a cent to give me.

roy: i know its been a long time but there's many reasons why its taken me so long to get to this stage!

i do think he's a pretty genuine guy and was good to deal with when i bought it but it still doesn't excuse the fact and i'm still no less pissed off!

and it was $700 so i can't afford just to forget about it!

have been continually messaging him for the last 24 hours but he keeps saying he has no money and can't give me anything, just be careful of this guy if your dealing with him and your from another state!

Thats not good enough... im sure he can give you a small sum of money now, he was the one who sold you the dodgey goods in the first place. For him to turn around and just say badluck is just a kick in the balls... i would be returning that kick in the balls with interest to him.

having no money is understandable. Ask him to give you parts off his GTR as payment - still plenty goodies left to compensate you with :)

thats what i said but he said everything is sold except the guages and he said he's going to send them to me but i told him thats nowhere near enough!

i'd luv to kick him in the balls but i can't afford the plane ticket over there!

post pics, i have seen plenty of "diff" specialists with no clue. I work near ringwood so would be happy to visit if you need some gear picked up and sent over. We coming over for Drift Australia s.a. soon anyways.

he says everything is sold or waiting on payment and all the money is supposedly going to unpaid bills/loans etc.

This diff specialist defintely knows his stuff, he had a mechanical there and showed me the difference and the one i got sold is definitely just a plain standard diff.

    • Adjusting the idle screw is usually (emphasis on usually) just covering up deeper issues. Stuff like the cold start valve not closing properly. Throttle shaft seals on the way out. Coolant temp sensors getting out of spec. Coolant temp sensors especially can be a bear to diagnose because they can fail subtly. My dad just spent weeks chasing down his high idle. He cleaned the coolant temp sensor and everything but the resistance curve just drifts over time and if it's been 20+ years they also get super slow to respond as well. Has a massive effect on fuel economy as if it's off the ECU is going to run richer and command high idle for far longer than it should otherwise.
    • How old is the battery, it's more likely your battery is on its way out.
    • I reckon you'd get 90% off. My washer doesn't get between spokes very well. Haha! I love my Gerni!  Argh! Steam cleaning has its place for sure.
    • Hey all, I did a voltage test with the car (video attached) not running for 3 days. And here is some interesting stuff: - Battery voltage is 12v (I had the key in the ON position) - Drops to 9.76v while cranking then quickly goes up to 14.5v - You will notice there was a sorta slow start but not as slow as it usually is. - Idle surprisingly was better at just over 1,000rpm instead of 1,100 rpm. - I turned on the A/C, radio and headlights in the video and the voltage remains the same - I haven't cleaned the grounding wires on the chassis yet, that's next. - Battery drops to 12.6v when I turn off the car and wait a bit Seems like I might have a parasitic draw? I do have an immobiliser system which does drain the battery more of course but was wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at fixing? Does the ground wires on the chassis have anything to do with the low 12v?        SAU.avi
    • My lord that is some low oil pressure as minimum in the manual! I guess the big part will be seeing how it changes as the engine gets more spirited use.
