Did an oil change today and used motul due to it being more readily available here than my regular drop.

Whilst at repco I saw an all synthetic from penrite called SIN. Has anybody had any experience with it. Going by the price it would want to be some good schizzz.

My mechanic would agree with that! He thinks using any penrite product is a sin!!!

HAW HAW HAW!!!

A mechanic I know would say anyhing else is a sin! >_<

He has been trying to blow up his 200 000km stock bottom ended 350awkw GTR for years and cant...he attributes some of his lack of success to this oil!

I used to use Penrite in my first 33....I liked it and it was recommended by quite a few workshops...I reckon this stuff would be pretty good..they seem to know what they're doing...I used Motul in my other cars though...and also found that to be reasonably good.

yep, penrite has had some good history on its side. A few racing cars and been making oil for donkey's years etc....

Tried motul and switched, I've been using the royal purple and really happy with that. Great oil temp and pressure stability, good friction resistant and seems to come upto pressure quicker (than the motul i was using prior). On the skyline I think the royal purple has the history and the creds- especially with hi end gtr's etc. A lot of top jap workshops have used the royal in the past.

That's my pref, for what its worth...

Haha, I think most of the top end oils in fairly stock cars (ie a bit of boost etc) are pretty much the same anyway.

I guess at least the penrite stuff is somewhat Australian.

Redline or royal purple would be my choice but its too darn hard to source here in the switch.

I didn't say it was MY opinion, why is it necessary for me to back it up? I was simply stating that many people would prefer other oils over Magnatec in particular.

Oils aint oils?

Anyway i am about to try Mobil 1 5w50 in my car next service.... then im going to try the Motul Semi Synth 5w50 and see what the difference is.. i might also try a Penrite as i put it in my Gf's celica with 200,000 on the clock and it now works a damn treat..

I use to use the semi synth Motul in my silvia and it never had a problem.

Guess i will just see how it goes..
