My names graham and am new to the site i have a 1996 r33 skyline and recently took it for a RWC.

i need to do a shit load of stuff to it and need standard parts and other things.

first of all does anyone know if there's any Road Worthy places that will pass a lightly modified car.

OK the things i need to replace are:

-exhaust to standard (i currently have a 3" and thought it was fine apparently its to big)

-New standard bumper bar (need one with the reinforcement in it)

-standard height suspension (low is cool though)

-head lights are dull (attempting to clean them with brasso)

-blow off valve vented to exhaust system

i am also after a turbo timer and boost controller

thanks in advance for anyone who helps me

- exhaust ... what the hell? is that actually a new rule now, my mate had a 4" on his and got a RWC fine

- bumber bar... this guy is playing with you, my mate has a aftermarket front bar WITHOUT a reinforcement in it and he passed RWC AND VIV!!

-head lights are dull ... did he do the test at night? lol

ok take it to a few more places and which ever one gives a list of least costly problems you should go to

These are all legit reasons to fail a roadworthy.

blow off valve into the exhaust is not a new concept..

If u look waaaaaaay back, back into the dark ages, the humble mini (in race version)

had the oil breather hose conected into an elbow on the exhaust. I wont go into the reasons, but it WORKED.

I have seen a maximuim effort street car with this mod done.. but i've only seen one!

His idea was completly different to that of the EPA

I have NEVER heard of it being done for a road worthy!

From what I can uderstand of the EPA law,

the Blow Off Valve MUST be vented back into the intake tract (like standard)

so that any/all oil fumes or vapours can be burnt by the engine during the combustion process.

Just put the standard BOV back on! that'll shut them up on that..

Exhaust..? I think that is a state thing!

I'm sure somebody would sell u one in the 'for sale' section! REAL CHEAP!

that help?

lol its really up to the each individual mechanic what they deem passable. I bet if you go to the next mechanic down the street he'll give you a whole new list of stupid crap he wants you to fix.

Ok I'm taking that advice and am taking it to another mechanic and hopefully get a more realistic list of shit to fix. if not i will have to get working turning my car to stock standard. that should be ilegal.

is $80 for a standard blow off valve reasonable

and what suspension is good to put in. don't wont to spend a fortune but wont some reasonably good shocks that can reach a RWable height.

also i need a timer and boost controller. any that stand out as being good quality and value for money

thanks to every one that's posted

except the one who said there all legit reasons for failing an rwc. Not helping
