Just mostly out of curiosity I am wondering if any 260RS owners could tell me what their part number on their engine ECU.

I would assume that it will be 23710-26U00 or similiar (ala R33 GTR) and obviously RS-Four will be 23710-0V??? but my engine ECU number is not even close to either of those. I suspect it is R34 but not sure................

Anyone?

Stageas use hybrid R33/R34 ECU's.

The plug on the RS4's is R34, so id assume they did similar with the 260RS's. You might also find that the tune on a GTR ecu vs a 260RS ecu is also slightly different. What they did in RS4's was improve torque a little at the compromise of some top end power.

I know but everything I have found wiring wise, as I have just replaced EVERY scrap of wiring in my RS-Four with 260RS wiring was XXXXX-26UXX which is R33 yet the ECU was 23710-0A??? which is R34-ish.

I should mention I suspect the engine is an R34 GTR unit

hi trukboy,

Im assuming you have an RS4 that you are trying to make a 260 replica with?

I dont know if a 96 model 260 was ever made, but mine is a 97 model, which branches the gap between the last 33gtr being made and the start of the 34s, mine has parts from both, is a 33 block but the clutch set up is 34, so they definitely made a hybrid unit when doing making the 260.

Where abouts is the number you are looking for? I can see if i can check the computer in my 260 for you.

Your valley cover is a bit intersting having the GTR cover on it as the 260 wasnt released with that cover, not being a gtr of course.

R33 GTR and r34 GTR clutches are the same, both pull type

The engine could just have a R34 cam cover, but the best thing would be to FAST the engine number

There was a change over in there somewhere between push and pull types, the change was towards the end of the 33's run.

FAST the engine number??

FAST the engine number??

The change over was on the late r32 GTR's 1994 models, not the R33's

FAST is the Nissan parts number system

You can enter a Vin number or engine number to verify what type of engine it is or if the car was a genuine 260RS etc or a fake

Some people on here have it installed

I have reshelled a 1998 260RS into my 96 RS-Four. The number I want to check is on the ECU itself behind the LH kick panel. Unfortunately I don't have FAST but if I can find the engine number perhaps someone can check it for me.

Thanks Grim

FAST will be able to tell what ecu it is aswell

PM Alexcim, he has it

JUST Curious... with all the issues us stagea owners seem to have with out ECU's having carptacularly uniquer pinout diagrams etc... why don't we just get an entire R33 loom and ECU and re-wire the bloody thing...

I havn't done much elec- work, but i guess it could be easier tan mucking around with pins et.al...and then having to go back and muck around when it comes time to sell and all that other stuff... why not just do a loom swaop and then it would be swap in swap out?

*remembers that a loom costs money*

*remembers that he would then either have to re-solder his entire loom near the firewall or run wires all the way to ex-temp sensors, AFM etc etc which are going to inevitably be in stupidly diffucult to reach places...*

...decides to muck around with pinout stuff on a piggy back computer*

never mind

I did that but I swapped a complete 260RS loom in, time consuming but no too hard.

I checked under the lefthand kick panel, number on the computer is 23710 0A903 and below that has R585 A1 7Y20.

Thanks Ben!!!! Thats all I needed. Confirms everything I needed to know. Cheers for that. Just means the 260's still run a hybrid C34/R34 ECU. Awesome

    • Thanks Duncan! Yeah it's street use for me only. Maybe occasional track day. Any difference in noise when running with the two pumps? I would expect the lift pump to be more quiet than the main pump so hopefully not? And yes, unfortunately quite a big price difference to the simple hanger setup. Though I'm usually willing to trade money for better reliability and future-proofing. Buy once, cry once and all that. I'd be very happy to never have to deal with fuel pump / wiring issues again
    • The old manifold was quite under the GTR strut brace.  The new manifold is quite [unknown] the GTR strut brace. The GTR strut brace was needed to clear the bonnet vents. The Old strut brace will almost certainly clear the new manifold, but not the bonnet vents. The old strut brace will almost certainly clear the new manifold, and the new bonnet without vents. But I am hoping the GTR strut brace clears the new manifold :p
    • On the bright side, at least you knew that it happened and remedied before anything happened. A friend of mine just took his Fiat 124 to a shop for an oil change and they didn't tighten the oil filter housing properly. 4.5 quarts spewed out and even after refilling + tightening the cap the engine has a tick now.
    • So, more pain. The FAST manifold is a little larger than the stocker. This is problematic because there really wasn't much clearance to begin with, so going from 'barely enough' well into 'no' is sad based on the external dimensions of the thing, even though where it bolts to the head is the same. Result is the fuel rails sit a good 25mm higher, and this is a bit of an issue with the wiring that runs behind the motor, and the fuel lines, and everything else. When pushing the manifold on, it required a huge amount of force to crush wiring looms to fit it, sensors like the MAP sensor are about 1mm from the firewall, and the FPR just has to bend ABS lines to be forced into place. After some brainstorming and some sad drinking, the loom for some reason ran from the grommet behind the ABS sensor, then to the driver side head, then back to the passenger side head. So all of this was pulled back and stripped, a few wires cut and rejoined, so that the 'branch' was now on the passenger side's head as below: Before you basically couldn't see anything behind the driver head. This is much improved! The MAP sensor is now pointing up (instead of at the firewall) Brackets have been made up for the rail. The rails are for a LS1, the manifold is designed around a LS2 as it's base. Which of course has slightly different bracketry and water pump clearance, hence the mods people need to do. Should be hopefully mounted tonight. I spent money on a new FPR that is slightly more compact than my Turbosmart FPR1200. The gauge has also been moved to the rail. There's also apparently an ORB to AN Union instead of the adapter, because the ~25mm of the current adapter is going to make the difference. Provided this all goes together and arrives today, it'll be the totally not stressful attempt to start it.
