And cheers Taffrey.

Matt I like the Maximas, especially the Ti, but the boss has her heart set on a Subie. Cheers though! :) Happy to sell to you for cash!

Cheers lads, all PMs replied.

Hopefully I'm home from work early enough tomorrow, so I can take (and post) a few underbody, interior, and engine bay pictures for those that asked to see them.

As a few blokes have been asking why did I respray the car:

When in Japan, some the sphincter of the universe at the caryard decided to forklift it around rather than drive it. Using the forklift crushed the outer sill panels and by the time the car arrived in Aus the panels were starting to corrode and were heavily damaged.

I bought new outer sill panels from Mr Nissan Japan and had a bodyshop fit them. As I was paying for the entire interior to come out for the sill panel replacement, I decided to go ahead and respray the car, replace the right rear quarter and rear quarter glass on both sides.

Hope that helps!

Yes I did thanks, but I ended up buying Raw111's R33 GTR Vspec last weekend instead.

Good luck with the sale of your car though, its definatly a good buy.

Cheers,

Ian

I was really looking for a freshly rebuilt car, but this is a good price and the paint is great, so can you just tell me if the fluctuations of up to 10 psi (assuming psi is what was used to gauge) are big fluctuations or whether we're talking minor damage or we're factory condition (145 140 150 145 150 150)

It depends entirely on how the test was done. If it was done cold and dry as most people do them so they don't burn themselves, well the results are fine.

Keep in mind that an alloy piston grows in size when it heats up more than the engine block does, so ring seal and piston/bore seal improves with engine temp.

If these are the results of a wet test (tablespoon of oil in the cylinder to aid ring seal), then this might indicate an issue. In the scheme of things 10psi is nothing.

    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
