im feeling for skylinechick, and this whole situation is fishy as

but really, an angry mob from the internet?

so we turn up with pitch forks and torches, then what?

Yeah sounds a bit of overkill but the police say all you can do is report the car stolen.... Bugger that... these guys need some preasure put on them. If this was done to a young Lebanese guy the yard would already be just a hole in the dirt. The least we can do is rock up and ask some questions and try help her out.

With some luck they might see how serious the matter is when there is loads of support from others in the import car scene. Not knowing who the company is exactly but guessing that they are an import car yard, it can't be good for business to have that many people knowing about your stuffups and the potential intimidation to resolve the matter can only be a good thing.

I think the average Skyline owner is past the aggressor mindset that you are hinting at, well I hope so.

Yeah,

I think the biggest point is that fact that it wont be taken lightly, there will be a lot of support for her.

Come on people.. how would you feel if you didnt know where your baby was? i would be gutted.

Also i think the biggest issue will be the good ol word of mouth.. cause i would make sure this never happens to a mate of mine so i would steer them faaaaaar away from this group.

I hope its just the most pathetic customer service ever amy... good luck

Thank you so much everyone, @ people have seen it a slakcs creek. It wasnt getting repairs done because the car yard refused to fix the stuff wrong with it until they got the complaince thing sorted. I when down to moss st yesterday afternoon and look around. i couldnt see it anywhere. I have the number of the company people have seen it around i am going to ring them right now.

As soon as i get the car back i am going to fair trading. these people are going to pay for what they have done and put me thought the last new days.

But thanks again to everyone.

FOUND THE CAR!!!! IN SLACKS CREEK!!!! FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS BEING HIDEN THERE TILL THE OWNER GETS BACK FROM HOLIDAYS. nEXT PHONE CALL IS FAIR TRADING.

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN HELPING ME.

I dont understand what they were thinking....

Amy,

So pleased to hear that you have located your car ;)

"Until the owner gets back from holidays" WTF.... :(

I would most definitely be making lots of calls now. Don't let them get away with this. Is anything missing from your car? How many extra kays are on it?

Karen

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so now its been located (congratulations), what do i do with this 12 guage shot gun, hacksaw and 50 rounds of happiness + bottle of jonny walker?

good stuff. keep us all updated on how it goes.

after you've blown them out of the water, can you let the community know who these doggggy people are?

=)

congrats on finding it... could i please get a PM with the name of this caryard so i know never to use them?

if this isn't resolved by next week, i'm actually on holidays, and will be rather bored, so i would be free to come down to the caryard to provide 'moral support'* if you have anything you wish to say to them

*by moral support i mean i'm a rather large scary guy

Great news to hear you got it back!! It'll cost you a few dollars but I would immediately have the locks changed on the ignition, both doors and the boot, and have a new alarm installed. You don't know whether they've made copies of the keys, recoded remotes or done anything to the security of the car. Have the whole car checked over with a microscope. Send them the bill or add the costs to the lawsuit or insurance claim as appropriate, just get it done.

Gratuitous plug ahead... If you don't already have someone you trust to sort out the alarm, Chris Rogers from Audio Express will be able to help you, he's absolutely trustworthy and will come to you - the car doesn't have to leave your yard. He's worked on approximately 11ty billion Skylines too so knows them inside out, and is an SAU Qld club sponsor.

Please keep us updated, I personally would love to see the person/s responsible for this ridiculous situation get raped by the legal system. And yes, curiosity has managed to get the better of me, can someone please PM me some details on the yard? :(

I still don't really understand what happened here. Why did the car yard get the car back, and why wasn't it returned to you? Is the car sold? Why are they waiting for the owner to come back from holidays? I don't understand how people took your car from you, and then just refused to return it. Who had it at slacks creek? Is the car legally yours?

So many questions.

Can somebody explain this to me like i am five year old? (had to use that Jerry McGuire line, even if it was uttered by Tom Cruise, may he burn in hell)

Hey can someone PM me the details, cause it sounds f**ked.

And let me know or someone make a topic or something on if we are going to visit someone sometime. We need to have a chat to some this guy.

Really great to hear you got your car back Amy, we are all here to help so. If you need back up then let us know.

    • That's awesome, well done! Love all these older Datsun / Nissans so rare now
    • As I said, there's trade offs to jamming EVERYTHING in. Timing, resources etc, being the huge ones. Calling out the factory ECU has nothing to do with it, as it doesn't do any form of fancy boost control. It's all open loop boost control. You mention the Haltech Nexus, that's effectively two separate devices jammed into one box. What you quote about it, is proof for that. So now you've lost flexibility as a product too...   A product designed to do one thing really well, will always beat other products doing multiple things. Also, I wouldn't knock COTS stuff, you'd be surprised how many things are using it, that you're probably totally in love with As for the SpaceX comment that we're working directly with them, it's about the type of stuff we're doing. We're doing design work, and breaking world firsts. If you can't understand that I have real world hands on experience, including in very modern tech, and actually understand this stuff, then to avoid useless debates where you just won't accept fact and experience, from here on, it seems you'd be be happy I (and possibly anyone with knowledge really) not reply to your questions, or input, no matter how much help you could be given to help you, or let you learn. It seems you're happy reading your data sheets, factory service manuals, and only want people to reinforce your thoughts and points of view.
    • I don't really understand because clearly it's possible. The factory ECU is running on like a 4 MHz 16-bit processor. Modern GDI ECUs have like 200 MHz superscalar cores with floating point units too. The Haltech Nexus has two 240 MHz CPU cores. The Elite 2500 is a single 80 MHz core. Surely 20x the compute means adding some PID boost control logic isn't that complicated. I'm not saying clock speed is everything, but the requirements to add boost control to a port injection 6 cylinder ECU are really not that difficult. More I/O, more interrupt handlers, more working memory, etc isn't that crazy to figure out. SpaceX if anything shows just how far you can get arguably doing things the "wrong" way, ie x86 COTS running C++ on Linux. That is about as far away from the "correct" architecture as it gets for a real time system, but it works anyways.
    • Holy hell! That is absolutely stunning! Great work!!!
    • It does when you start adding everything else in. But it's not just compute. It's the logic. Getting your timing right (I'm not meaning ignition timing for the engine). Making sure of your memory mappings, seeing your interrupts. Microcontroller devices only have so much capacity. For the most part, you want all those timers and interrupts in use on your engine control, which means you're left with less than ideal methods for timing and management of other control functions.   Let's put it this way, my job is all about building custom hardware, that goes into cars, and integrates with them. We're also waiting on a media confirmation from SpaceX too fora world first we've just completed with them in NZ too. It's not just the little toys I play with. But you know, you can think and believe what you want.
