OK so the Autosalon is coming up on the 31st of march and i just was wondering a few things, hoping someone can help me out.

Do they have any rules on the age of the car to be entered? I assume theres some on the condition of the car, but is old school v8 discouraged and rice encouraged? I only ever seem to see 90's+ cars, a few VL's and a rx3 or two.

2nd question, do they offer any sort of insurance or anything (on things like key-ings)

3rd, is it $70, or thereabouts for entry? i couldnt find any details.

I wanted to get the valiant in a magazine or something so i have something to stick on my wall and because it's so different from anything else at these car shows (and so mickey) i thought i might have a shot at something :(

Thanks

You must have a license.

The condition must be pretty reasonable. Basically if you havent got GO, you gotta have SHOW :(

Not sure what your talking about RE: car types.

There is a lot more there if you have a look.

Show Hondas, like Euro's etc. Mercs, BMW's etc. All pimped out.

Hummers, escalades, Chryslers, a corvette or two sometimes etc

Big Dyno cars, Supras, GTRs, Rotors etc.

350Z's, V35's, lots of other various new imports from 2000 onwards and also earlier imports

Lots of locally delivered cars modded in various ways.

There is quite a long list of stuff, what you have listed is a pretty closed minded list, thats quite wrong

Autosalon generally wont turn a car away, but if its a bucket of sh|t, there isnt a lot of point.

2nd question, do they offer any sort of insurance or anything (on things like key-ings)

Nope. On the form is clearly states owners responsibility, the Cabin Group are not liable.

ie, you make your own stand, barriers and attend both days to ensure your own cars safety if you are worried

3rd, is it $70, or thereabouts for entry? i couldnt find any details.

$80 early bird (club entry) $100 early bird (private)

$100 normal (club entry) $120 normal (private)

$200 late entry (2 weeks or sooner)

Thats last years pricing, check thier website for further details if you need it.

Early bird would now be well closed for thier upcoming show.

You probably dont wanna hear this, but a valiant isnt really likely to make it into AutoSalon Magazine.

You'll have far better luck with Street Machine or similar publications if that is your aim.

For AutoSalon magazine, i'd say your car has to be either a powerhouse, or a very individual show car.

Cheers

Vehicles must be manufactured during or after 1986, currently registered, and have at a very minimum 3rd party insurance.

The only way to get around this is with a special exemption, or if the vehicle is a trade stand promo vehicle.

....however, there is now an "old school legends" category, not sure what the conditions for entry into this category are, but vehicles entered in this category aren't eligible for the regular autosalon trophies.

Privateer entry is $240 (if you'd paid yesterday it would have been half price, but the early bird prices have now closed)

ermm yeh true, i suppose other car mags don't really cover autosaloon then? I recall seeing a bit of old school stuff in various magazines, normally coz it looked pimp regardless of genre, theres too much muscle to compete with elsewhere (and in other mags) hehe.

The list of cars i had was from a show i went to about 4 years back, so i guess it's more ranged now but at the time it was rice central with like 2 v8's so i wasn't sure if that was still the way (although i musta gone last year coz i recall the sau stand and a stock standard civic with 17" rims sitting looking lonely in a corner)

Guess i'll have to wait for another show that caters more to my car type and doesn't have a anything after 86 rule. Just that it won't stand out as much at a hot rod show (and your average hot rod show bores me)

Old school legends category would be pimp to get into, but at the moment i wouldnt say its legendary hehe, sure we put alot of time money and effort into the paint, exterior, interior and drive but a 318 with edelbrock manifold a 600 holley a zorst system and some mopar rocker covers isn't exactly legendary >_<

Thanks anyways, i guess i'll just go and watch it all unfold

hehe bigger, but assuming your gts is all original i got nothing on you in resale >_<

I'm gonna go right ahead and post up a pic, coz, well i just wana..

http://img252.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...ndval116pt4.jpg <<< mmm >_<

pfft ... hz gts 4 doors arent up there in $$$ district ... well yet, they are climbing ... yankee muscle is worth a fair bit in oz.

and sif leave it a 308 ... refer to sig, k thnx ... cars are to enjoy, not to keep as assets

Yehh, true.. Cost too much money to get this thing moving though, so either it'll be an engine transplant or i'll just keep it and try my luck again with a skyline..guess i need to just head to a chrysler show and shine or something, see if i can get it on a page of some mopar related magazine

plenty of performance parts for ur motor, look into a stroker kit ... can easily get 300rwkw out of a holden 355 stroker kit ... and im sure your motor is more rev friendly than those of holdens, although u may have to look into an american based forum

mmm 300rwkw would be nice.. specially since the car only weighs 1350 kilo's.. would just need a decent diff then (some retard took out the suregrip and put an aftermarket single spinning piece of crap in about 20 years ago) and i could be looking at some alright times down the 1/4

just enter a muscle car show or a val show.. my mate did with his vf valiant 4door with a 440 chrysler big block in it and lobbed on its guts with the plates RIDNLO he got featured in a mag or so and a foto taken when he was racing.. ran 10.46.. im not sure on mile time.
