~~door pannel insert colour change~~

Has anyone changed the materal in there door trims to a different colour material?

how do you do it?

I have seen a few cars with it done in photos!

id say people just get some type of proffesional to do it. i know a guy who has black leather interior and he has black leather there

Dude, just go to Lincraft, buy some nice felt in the colour you want and do it yourself. A friend of mine has done it in his MX6, it's not that hard.

yeah but how is it attached to the door and also how is the edge finished off? as that piece of fabric in the door isn't a seperate panel??? ......help!

I think you have to rip the insert out of the door (which i don't want to really do just to see how its done). Then you would have to make up a basic MDF shape, then some padding, and then wrap your desired cloth around with a staple gun. I think you could get good results but i'm not sure whether i'm missing anything in terms of what needs to be done. I wanna do it, but i also don't

I'm a bit hestitant to try it on my skyline, due to the fact if i **** a perfectly good door skin, its probably $100 to get a new one. If i had a dodgy one, or a $10k car (or an R32 gts-t .. lol.. i would do it)

Here's how my mate did it: on the MX6, the trims are mounted on aluminium panels, then onto the doors. He took off the panels, cut some new fabric and glued them onto the original trims with contact adhesive. The edges were folded back and the new trims went back onto the doors. Now I'm not sure how the trims are installed on the Skyline, so you'll have to fiddle and see.

the original felt on the doors have been glued on and the door trim is one piece! which sucks! so what else can I do to change it I bight have to cut the door pannel and peices out to cover them them, then find out a way to reattach them to the rest of the door pannel!......hummmmm alot of work but it will look sweet when it is done, going to do it a yellow to match the yellow paint job!

ive jsut finished doing my dash metallic blue and the rest of my car in white material.. post pics up of it... looks great...took about a week to do but

Stick the material directly onto the panel, without removing it, over the existing material???

ask boostd how to do it .. theres a thread somewhere in SA section .. look for the post of a previous cruise i think ... u dont' have to take anything apart ... u buy the material and it just snaps on top of the original so no messing around and easy to do ...

Sorry, no pics, as i have not done it, but i have dealt with similar problems before, and going over the original material seems like the simplest way..
