Big congrat on the win Russ.

What is on at the QR this weekend? Hopefully I can bring my black 32GTR out to join you.

I just replaced my PPG with an OS synchro box so I don't expect it to be quick.....just want to practice and learn your line

gdday mate

ummm there is a new class called JDM details below

New JDM racing category

A new circuit racing category for cars produced for the Japanese Domestic market (JDM), is set to have its first run at Queensland Raceway on March 24th and 25th. The category will be run as part of round 1 of the new QR Championships and will include two classes to run simultaneously over both days. The two classes will include an “Elite†class which will be more along the lines of an improved production class and a “Club†class which will be more open to modifications. Although both classes will be run together, there will be two separate championships with points allocated for each class.

It is envisaged that each race meeting will consist of two practice/qualifying sessions and four races over the two days. Currently the QR Championships are to be held over four race meetings throughout 2007 and with the possibility of Lakeside Raceway becoming available later in the year, there is a chance this circuit could be included in the 2008 championship. The organisers have also expressed interest in taking the class to a national level, with the inclusion of some interstate tracks and its own national championship.

Listed below are some of the basic regulations for both classes. Please keep in mind that these are still open to change at this stage as the classes are fine tuned to suit competitors.

ELITE CLASS

This class will be for any mass produced car for the Japanese Domestic Market. The idea being these cars will retain the looks and basic engine and driveline configuration of the base vehicle.

Bodywork – Original, as per manufacturers specs.

Engine – Original block and heads. Increases in capacity are acceptable. Engine internals are free. Bolt on mods are free.

Transmission – Original gearbox casing. Aftermarket gear sets etc are acceptable. Remaining driveline components are free.

Wheels – Free, providing they fit inside the original guards.

Tyres – Free, providing they stay inside the original bodywork. There is the possibility a limit of road legal R spec tyres may be introduced at a later date.

Brakes – Free

Suspension – Free

Fuel – Unleaded.

CLUB CLASS

This class will be for any chassis/bodyshell from a car produced for the Japanese Domestic Market. It will allow for more modifications in bodywork, engines and transmissions.

Bodywork – Chassis and bodyshell to remain as per manufactures specs. Essentially the rest is free at this stage but other items such as front and rear spoilers, replacement doors and guards etc will be fine tuned at a later date.

Engine – Any engine from a JDM car

Transmission – Any transmission from a JDM car

Wheels – Free

Tyres – Free

Brakes – Free

Suspension – Free

Fuel – Unleaded

There have also been discussions in relation to having more classes, including naturally aspirated etc and these will depend on whether we can get enough competitors to run a separate class. With the category currently in it’s infancy we are happy to take feedback from interested parties to help mould it into shape. If you are interested in any further details please contact Cameron Wilson on 0419768662 or myself via a reply here and we look forward to your support at the track for our first outing.

What’s the deal with flares? Not bolt on, factory guards pumped and shaped? I remeber there was some controversy with some of the Porsche class’s a while ago as technically even though it was a stock body, the guards had been modified, thus not as per manufacture.

    • Seemed to be good when Jeff owned it but they did a shit job on my car, probably worth a think before spending 10's of thousands of dollars where they might be cutting corners
    • Starting with issues 1 - 5, we have already run into a problem...!  Issue #4 contained 2x front brake calipers, instead of 1 caliper and 1x steering knuckle. Will have to call DeAgostini on Monday to sort it out. Anyway here's some photos.  Issue #1 is the front bumper, headlights and number plate. Issue #2 is the front wheel (with "We produced with spartan air." text on the centre cap!) and tyre, the front lip spoiler and cylinder head cover with ignition coils under the centre cover... which will never be seen again. Issue #3 is the bonnet and cylinder head. Issue #4 is the front strut, brake disc (with laser etched metal discs) and brake caliper. I stopped here because of the issue with the missing steering knuckle.  Next update will be #5 - #10 in a few weeks.
    • DeAgostini is one of a few companies that release quite large (the largest commonly available size actually) 1/8 scale models in a series of weekly issues over 100 - 110 instalments.  They release different models for different markets and DeAgostini Japan have release the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo last month. I've made two of these 1/8 scale sized cars (one an R35 GT-R from 2012 - 2014, the other I'm just about halfway through, a BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the 2Fast 2Furious movie) so when this R32 was announced there was no way I could ignore it as it's my favourite out of all Nissans.  Each issue costs around $20 so it costs about $2.2K when completed. I suppose it is very expensive for what it is, but the quality and details are really very good, and there are many "gimmicks" like fully functioning exterior and interior lights operated with a remote control, working steering, all doors/bonnet/boot/fuel lid open and close, the side mirrors fold in and it even has a speaker for the engine revving sounds when you turn the lights on.  Each issue comes with a magazine that tells the story of the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo from the first design stages of the BNR32 to Group A homologation and the various racing version that were run in the Japanese Group A and JGTC, and Australian Group A.  So I plan to update the build in this thread 5 issues at a time.  https://deagostini.jp/r32/?srsltid=AfmBOooKjxDc4EUK2rmXqMBPgyHfFJ24s4oEPJBNpnF-lFlsRoW0PE6P
    • As per title.. has anyone used so far? Keen to hear results, comparisons. In the market for a new mani for my new turbo. Any issues cracking?
