Flywheel Screeching

hi all,

recently had a new clutch fitted and had to put the car up on a hoist today as it has developed an intermittent screeching sound, when it was on the hoist i discovered if you push lightly on the inspection plate it rubs on the flywheel causing the screech stays for awhile then goes away. any ideas on whats happening?

You just diagnosed the problem

What type of flywheel are you using?

a standard flywheel problem is why is it hitting there are no dents in the plate. Is it possible there is that much lateral movement in the crank that it can move backwards and forwards?

i just had an exedy flywheel installed the other day and the shop said they had to modify the motor housing or something there cause it would touch it and rattle. dunno what exatly they did but maybe its the same thing your talking about.
