hey all how are we? I have just recently bought a cefiro from south aus, the car came complied but unregistered. Now i live in vic and have to get a vicroads approved engineer to sign the car off before I can register it. I took the car in last night and he gave me a list of things that need doing.

-replace front winscreen (has crack all along the bottom)

-fit cat converter and quieten down

-fit airbox (car has front mount also, he said i could have either front mount or pod, not both)

-make height legal

-reconnect heater (for front demister)

-provide evidence that the front and rear lights comply to standards (anyone know anything on this?)

-and make sure everything works properly (lights, brakes etc)

is this about right for a victorian engineers report? any one else who has gone through the same thing let me know how you went. The south aus complianve must be very laid back because it passed that fine, open exhaust and all.

cheers Ryan

Looks like standard roadworthiness type stuff, only really surprising issue is having to provide evidence that the lights comply. I'll throw this one to the Mexicans to solve.. :P

Yeah, with the head lights its because the low beams turn off when you throw the hight beams on. You can make the low beams stay on with a relay and some wiring but it is 100% factory for them to turn off. I am surprised he will engineer it with a front mount though most vic engineers wont touch it with a front mount because it will change the way it behaves in a frontal accident. For evidence your best bet it to get a workshop manual off nissan or a wrecker.

Na mate, guy doesnt know what he is on about, or has never done cefiro before, what was he going to charge you? Do you have a copy of the import approval?

Ring UPI, Speak to dean 9555-3611, ask him for the engineer he uses. The engineer is off Toorak rd.

Dont actually go to UPI, they did a bit of butchering for my old Cefy to get it engineered. PAHhhhhhhhhhhhhh
