Grey enough to get a roadworthy and a defect. It definately does not give the all clear for any intercooler set-up as long as you don't have a pod. I think their use of 'pod' was misplaced and should have been 'Open element'.

It says no pods on carburetted vehicles....You'll find an RB20/25 is EFI....

Dry element pod type air cleaners are

permitted on EFI vehicles.

Intercoolers that are larger than standard or

have a different mounting location or are

added where none were originally fitted, are

permitted only if no other changes to the

intake system have been made. In other

words, you may have a pod filter or

modified/added intercooler, but not both.

Where does that not give the all clear for an intercooler?

So getting back to your points... none of which were in your quoting of the rules

So, can you link/quote where it says all of the stuff you claimed to be illegal?

Dont trust burwood, thats where I got my car registered. Some old fat bloke was giving me a hard time, as my RWC cert had stock rims written and I had 17's on. He said the tyre brand didnt match the RWC ~_~..Also had to remove the GT wing brackets off the bootlid. A person would have to roll over the whole car to touch the brackets, and im sure there is already enough damage caused....

Although this wouldnt have been a problem if we all just upgraded our smics, like i did XD~

Sat back and watched this thread for farrr too long.

anDru, I have a Topstage CF airbox, and alas, I got defected about a month ago, because i still had 2 intake modifications.

I'm telling you it will NOT pass, unless you get a dodgy RWC, and a VicRoads member of staff that won't inspect the car... Good luck! Imagine if they do inspect the car AND see the pod? The person who issued the RWC could loose their license.

Just do it properly. That is all everyone is trying to say. Simple.

that dosnt make sense, so u box it up yet his still able to see the pod?, obviously thats just the most stupid box ive head, reason why im getting a box(and a million others) is so that u cant see the pod.

i would like to see your setup because if its still being defected its being done wrong, i have a bunch of mates who have boxed theirs up and never EVER been defected.

just incase you missed all that nismoid i shall also send you a "larger" version.

It does make sense.

There is a POD underneath the box... i mean, you might aswell stick a "captain obvious" stick on the airbox.

Dont bother arguing the point, its still illegal, you can still be pinned for it, so its not wrong at all.

Whats wrong is your inability to accept the fact that your as wrong as it comes

ahhahahah okai nismoid, you got a point i shuodnt bother arguing anymore, because i have a box and its LEGAL. dont care wat you gotta say cuz thats all that counts....its LEGAL. and anyone who wants a cheap and effective way of clearing a defect + a few lil kws, will do the same.

so i guess that pretty much ends it, oh and just to let you know nismoid, uve been spamming this thread since day one because you have not answered the one main question in this thred, which was who make air boxes.

have a good nite everyone, and say hi if u see me on the road give us a honk cuz its legal biatch lol

lol

how is it legal when you have a pod and a FMIC?

it only takes 2 seconds to open a very suss looking carbon fibre airbox, and then, hey presto, a pod filter.

you will get dicked again, so why bother?

only a moron such as yourself would believe that there is a standard airbox and panel filter under that heatshield...

It is illegal. You are a moron.

These are the facts, and they are undisputed.

The law clearly states that you can only have ONE intake modification.

This CF air box is a modification, and you already have a FMIC. That is TWO intake modifications you have.

How is that legal? If it's not standard, then it's a modification.

However, if what you're arguing is that you won't get caught, well that's a different story. It still doesn't make it legal because you hid it, no matter how you spin it. The law is clear on this and if you get a smart cop pull you over, then you're back to square one. Just make it legal from the start for what the effort's worth, it could save you time/money in the future.

Sherwin from Chasers Motoworks makes pretty good perspex airboxes, not so sure about carbon firbe.

He's made some pretty crazy ones for r33's and evo's. Give them a buzz and see if they can help your case.

good luck

Mine is slightly different, as I don't have an Air Flow Meter to join it up to, but otherwise it's pretty much the same. Just in case you don't understand, I'm running a MAP sensor instead of the AFM  . There obviously is a point to it, to keep the warm engine bay air away from the pod filter. If you want to see my setup, mine is the engine bay pic in dezz's F1 photo thread, like the second pic down.

And the fact I got defected, is because it is my 2nd intake modification. Simple. Unless you leave the standard airbox, then you will get done everytime. (Give or take on the cop).

So just pass it with a standard airbox, and get a CF airbox afterwards for a bit of eye candy. It seriously ISN'T that hard. Or is it?

    • Its likely to be 70% road 30% track usage, track usage will increase if anything. Decided not to fit it as I cant be arsed changing the bushes on my LCAs again 🤣 I did get the below back from GKTech though so they should work together     The anti-squat kit and roll center adjusters work independently since they change the rear lower control arm's angle in different ways. The anti-squat kit adjusts the angle from front to back, which impacts anti-squat values. Roll center adjusters change the angle side to side, mainly to correct geometry on cars that are significantly lowered. They might affect each other a tiny bit, but overall, you can think of them as separate.
    • What are you doing with the car? street car or race car? People get hung up on the squat of the s/r chassis rears. There is positives to the squat if a car is setup and driven correctly for it (correct ride height, spring rate, alignment, damper valving). Generally just lengthen the rear traction arm by 5-10mm and that will help the squat and bump steer too. You are also correct with the roll centre too. This too also needs to be adjustable if you start messing with suspension geometry.   Having done quiet a bit of testing on race cars this year in regards to rear squat, I've seen some big positives from it in regards to drive off corners and traction.
    • I find I am using the MX5 for everything except long overnight cruises with Jackie, or, if picking up the kids to go somewhere, the SS has so much more room inside, and is much more comfortable if your going to be doing Hwy driving for 6-8 hours And the MX5 isn't bad in stop go traffic for a manual transmission car, whilst the clutch kit has been upgraded from stock, it is still light, and also not having a stupidly light flywheel in it helps as well, I've spent alot of time sitting on the M5, M4 and M7 stuck in traffic when plodding around the Greater Sydney Region in it Another benefit is MX5's are not really a car that gets stolen, you can pretty much park it anywhere, and it will still be there when you return
    • I can totally get why you like it for that sort of commute. I was thinking BoganDore because it's such a lazy drive, for things like stop start traffic.   I used to do over an hour in stop start shit from one side of Bris to the next, twice a day. My choice of car was larger displacement, with an auto. Basically for torque in low rpm/very low speed, and no clutch pedal. But loved a fun manual for the weekends, which the partner has (plus had the LandCruiser too for other fun drives). I now have an EV as a work car, and I tell ya what, ultimate daily driver, especially if youre out of energy, like I often am after work. I don't even need to touch the brake pedal   That said, I'm presently rebuilding the Liberty GTB to get it setup for weekend drives and track abuse! So small high revving turbo engine with 6 speed cog swapper!   But for your style of commute, I'd probably take the MX5 too!   For those choices, I'm ignoring fuel economy. Because I know how atrocious V8 daily life is for fuel from when I used to daily a manual SS, ha ha. Hence why I know I love the daily rumble of a V8
    • II know what u are saying after 9 years of hibernating my stock engined  110,00km gtt I got it registered 2 weeks ago. Took it for a drive a couple of days ago and some fresh bp fuel, I just couldn’t stop grinning and dreaming of when I will start my build thread. its just such a primal man feeling many forget to enjoy I wish u so much enjoyment with your little racer mate
