yeah it's a fair bit of stuffing around (too me around 12 hours all up believe it or not - planning, pulling the car apart, metal fabrication, fitting, soldering/wiring, carbon covering, put the car back together), but well worth it in the end. Not bad for a first attempt I reckon.

Looks like this weekend is the mod-a-thon for my R34 if anyone want to come over and help/play/watch .... GT2530 turbo install, new radiator, new oil cooler, new trans cooler, new thermo fan and other bits and pieces.

WOW Andrew, Getting a few nice goodies installed there over the weekend! Will be interesting to see how she goes after that 2530 bolts on! I would come and help "watch" and "help" BUT im a little unsure what you mean by "play" tho....... :) and i'm at the track all weekend! Sorry!

no worries Darren .... yeah I am not after anything too spectacular - will be happy with around 230-240rwkw if all goes to plan. I won't have a PowerFC running it (since it is an auto) which is a bit of a shame, but we will see what the SAFCII can do.

Has anyone fitted a fuel pump and fuel reg. before? I haven't, but am gonna give it a shot. If I remember correctly when I played with my S15's 040, the pump still had tons of fuel pressure in it even when the battery was disconnected. I am not sure how to get around this.

lol Nick - so you work at a car retailer, yet are useless mechanically? Nice one! :)

Awesome Andrew, that sounds great! Where'd you pick up the new turbs from if you don't mind me asking. She should definately have a bit more pull once you're finished this weekend. Take it you aren't going on the BSM cruise then? Pity, would have loved to seen her in action :)

i work behind a desk doing paperwork all day,

If you need an extra pair of hands and have patience let me know :)

Luke, it's my brother-in-laws ex-turbo. His R33 kind of died (see attached pics - stationary at the lights and some noob hit him from behind at 60km/h and pushed him into the car in front even though he as hard on the brankes) about a month back. He bought it second hand, but it has no shaft play and he was running 240rwkw with a conservative tune and relatively low boost.

Yeah it's going to suck to miss the cruise, but I have been wanting to get this gear on my car for ages and this weekend seems like my only free time. There will always be another cruise.

fyi David has just bought a Silver 1997 S3 R33GTR from Melbourne - damn it is a sweet car!!!

haha was just stirring you Nick :) .... but feel free to come over if you have nothing better to do.

I have lots of little fiddly jobs to do too like the oil breather tank/kit, and the radiator breather/air remover kit to fit too. Not hard jobs, but time consuming and fiddly.

Yeah I have. You unplug the electrics to the pump and then crank the car over with your key, de-pressurises the system. Then disconnect the return fuel line I think, and let it drain back into the tank. Pumps easy hope you have a fairly empty tank tho!

FPR is even easier if its a non-adjustable one, easy as pie!

    • Well, I'm not clicking on a link to f**king bookface (never have, never will), so I can't really know what the complaint here is about, but.... There's nothing particularly wrong with forcing people to have a higher license category to drive super/hypercars. Note that the laws are not about modified cars - only listed standard cars, because there are not supposed to be cars modified enough to meet the law's category limits anyway. If you have a modified car that falls into those power limits you're already in trouble anyway. What is wrong is the bullshit on-line "test" to get the upgrade, instead of any actual work and training.
    • Meh Don't have Facebook anymore but watched a YouTube about it, they also talked about them not being able to use and "sports" modes, not really sure how they would enforce that apart from logging the Db for the cars that have exhaust valve activation in sports mode Apart from all the high end sports cars and supercars that make the sort of power they are talking about standard, I cannot see it bothering anyone else, unless of course road side tests now include having a dyno and scales on site to test the power output vs weight What is it? 500hp per ton? And if the only additional cost is $60 or so, as the video stated, I cannot see that being a war stopper for the people that outlay a few hundred thousand dollars on a performance car In fact, I see it would be a ego boost for some, because they have a "special" drivers licence for a "special"person with a "special" car And if I did have a modified car that made over the limit, there's no way in hell I would apply for a "special" licence, I could see the authorities checking your licence against your rego, so if old mate applied for a licence, but owns a, say, R33 Skyline, that may trigger an inspection of said car as to why, and how, that old mate has a R33 that would fit the bill of making over 500hp per ton Again, meh, not something I believe will be a real issue to 99.9% of people

    • Hi, I'm a new member who has been lurking for a while. Ive been looking to buy an R32, 33 or 34. GTT/GTST for some time now. I'm close to pulling the pin on one,. My question is around roadworthy certificates in Victoria. What can you get away with as far as mods go?  Would a car pass RWC with a haltech dash, aftermarket manifold and high mount turbo as long as ride height and noise was ok? I come from a muscle car background, I'm learning more about our beloved Skylines as I go. I don't want to drop my savings on something to find out I need thousands to get it on the road. Cheers for any input/advice.
    • The first year I did Putty Road I was driving the old Honda Jazz work car. Being the rear vehicle of the 2nd or 3rd group to make sure no one got lost. The GTRs in front couldn't work out how I "was with them in the twisties"... They didn't like it when they found out I was only cruising and chilling in the Jazz like it was a Sunday drive with my Nan in the car.
