Hi guys, after some help.

My knees are REAL bad, back on morphine so it aint all rosy.

Decided that I need a little more leg room for my right leg (acelerator / brake)

Will get a Boss kit and a basic aftermarket steering wheel - will need an engineers report due to insurance and removal of airbag.

What kind of Boss Kit fits a 97 Stagea? An R33 kit, series 1 or 2 (if such a thing) or a R34 kit?

Have no idea. If anyone can help, with known part numbers, retailers etc thatd be great

I removed my airbag wheel on my R33 series 1.5

It is not legal and insurance will not like it either

You will need to get a boss kit that is airbag compatable

The usual cheaper ones for $70-100 will not work

When I bought mine, I only found 2 places to buy from, but that was a few years ago

UAS $250, Advan $200 at the time

I just checked UAS and they are now $290!

So ring around

I have seen them on Yahoo for around 7500yen, $85 plus the usual shipping fees etc

Greenline list one for 10,505yen approx $115 plus $30-40 delivery, which is way better than $290!

I would get one from greenline, alot less hassle and cost.

You should be able to use a R33 one, but ask the question, because even a r33 series 2 and 3 GTR wheels are different. Not in looks but in the airbag module plug setup. I learnt this from experience, plus as we all know Stagea's are a r33 and r34 mix of parts, esp between series 1 and series 2. Also Stagea auto's do not have hicas, unlike r33 and r34's

Just thought, by the time you buy a boss kit and wheel, you maybe better of getting the factory optional Nissan Momo airbag wheel. I am not sure what OD they are, but they should be smaller, plus you retain the airbag and stay legal

They sell for approx $250-450 on yahoo.

Some people on here have them, so maybe they can confirm what size they are

I have attached 2 pic of momo options, plus a rear pic of a series 2 R33 wheel so you can compare it your Stagea wheel

I have also seen r34 GTR wheels on Stagea's in Japanese cars, not here

Would still need to check thuo, that the airbag will still work, The jap's can do some doggy things sometimes

There was a r34 GTR wheel on ebay this week for $350, or yahoo for $100-300, just need the OD size.

^^ keeping in mind that Tangles is about eleventy billion feet tall....:stupid:

BTW, that MOMO Nissan wheel is HAWT! Do they bolt straight on with no adaptor needed?

thank you all kindly for the information you have provided.

great info Darrin, cheers 'brother

Even tho Id be taking away the airbag (say with a $100 autotechnica steering wheel) Id need a boss kit to suit airbag?

MRO if you could post up the diameter of a 'stnd' Momo airbag wheel that'd be awesome. if they are smaller than my current wheel Id go that way i guess.

Yes, it comes with some additional wiring to keep the air bag system happy. Also do not forget you still have a passenger airbag to keep happy aswell.

Yes they bolt straight on and plug in

Have a close look at the pics. the wheels even have Nissan pressed into them

I had 99 wrx for a few years which has the same wheel, and I loved it.

eh

none of my cars have ever had air bags

i just took out that stupid flashing light

LOL

here in Aus tho your insurance is void if you take out the airbag without an engineers certificate

hence why im definately interested in perhaps a Momo replacement airbag steering wheel, if they are of smaller diameter
