One thing that has always bugged me about my 32 is altho I love a L6 layout its still kinda primitive and uses a stupid thermo clutch fan assembly to cool the beast down.

I know this is robbing power and the whoosh of air from spinning the fan annoys me as it lessens the engine note (RB's havnt got the greates sound, but its still nicer than a bloody fan whirring away)

surely its a relitivly common item to be binned in favor of somthing better,

are there any kits available? or is this somthing ppl dont bother attempting? (yes I searched)

I have had 4 Skylines (2 x R32, 1 R34 and 1 R33) and I never heard the fan, except in the R32GTST when the viscous locked up and the fan was a doing the engine rpm. Then it made a huge racket. Has your viscous clutch locked up by any chance?

:( cheers :ninja:

Mine has just recently locked up partially.

It no longer cycles in and out at 2000rpm and I can now constantly hear it driving at 60-80km/h.

In the last years I've thrown on second hand clutch fans. I've been through including this one 3.

I've tried twin 12" thermo's mounted directly on to the radiator. It simply didn't work in traffic with the a/c on in hot weather.

The twin 12" fans mounted directly to the radiator simply do not cover enough surface area regardless how much air they push.

I might have another hit at thermo's, if I can't find a good set of el twin thermo's for a reasonable price I'll grab a cheapo ebay 16" sblade, rig up a shroud and see how it goes. If it causes problems no big deal I'll buy another visc. hub for $140 from the local auto shop and fit the fan back up.
