Hey ppls,

Recently did front and rear bushes on the R32 and discovered the steer rod that runs from the steering wheel to steer rack has stuffed bushes. <attached pic>

I've found solid mount items but don't really want the increase in NVH that may result.

Does any one know of any aftermarket urethane etc?

Or who's ran the solids and found them to not increase NVH or hardly increase NVH?

I just put one in cubes.

NVH? wha?

The steering feels so much more direct you can feel the road a lot better. I took the car srifting last weekend and found that if the car was understeering badly i could FEEL when the front wheels got grip back. it made the car a lot easier to handle.

1 downside :P I can now HEAR the p/s pump working if i am parking and putting lots of load on the steering. it's a SSSSSSSHHHHhhh noise. it seems to act like a microphone seeming as there is no rubber damper there anymore.

I got mine for $35 delivered from NV101 on these forums. it was well machined, fitted perfectly and was annodised black so you cant see it :)

Stock looking is best!

Oh, if you're havin trouble finding the guy, it's NV_N01, good bloke. Promt delivery.

I want to get one aswell but it looks like such a crappy job cos of everything being in the way.

How long did it take you CEF11E?

you will laugh, but it took a bit over an hour. you need a 13mm ring spanner and a long 13mm socket. also a really short 12mm spanner. use heaps of wd40 and let it soak.

the nuts are those load breaking nuts that have tension from the time they are on till they are tight. it is a bit of a pain in the A$$

you will need to take the spline out of the rack to slide the spacer on.

make sure you mark the splines so your steering wheel goes back on straight :P
