Its time for me to change my timing belt, i've got an adjustable cam gear to put on so i figure i should change the belt at the same time.

I've searched the forums and found Gates blue timing belts seem more popular over the stock Nissan belts. Just Jap sell these online for $99, same price as the Nissan belt.

Is this the best deal i'm going to get?

Is this also the best belt to buy?

Thanks guys

I went all out and got the trust timing belt.. no issues and no noise..

but fair few ppl have gates timing belt.. No issues wit those, just they are noisy..

heaps of threads on this topic.. do a search..

Yeah ive read 'gates' users compain about the noise...

But others are saying the noise is because the belt is too tight, or it needs a while to wear in, and it shouldnt be noisy normally...

How much did you pay for your trust greddy one? Nengun have them for $116 AUD.

um bought mine from kudos (sponser on here) with other stuff i needed for my 100k service.. cant remember now :)

Check his section out..

Kudos are $195+$15 P/H, compared with Nengun - Nengun is the better option...

Does anyone else have a preference between a Trust Greedy timing belt and a Gates Racing one?

Gates look a wee bit cheaper

Yeah nengun sell HKS timing belts for $139 + postage... bit more than the greddy and gates ones...

Nothing wrong with a standard belt thats worked without problems for 100,000 kms, but i heard the after market Gates racing ones were actually cheaper than a genuine Nissan one. Havent got a price from Nissan, so cant confirm that.

ive got the blue gates belt. no issues. no noise. apparently they're triple strength. thats why i got it. also, it was easy, just jap $99 delivered.

edit: and you're right, the noise is from being over tensioned.
