Hmm bummer. why is that. Is the chip a single use only type.

Well if this is the case i am unsure what to do with my ecu then because it currently runs very rich fuel mixtures and i was hoping maybe a re tune will fix the prob.

Should i be looking at a piggy back type unit to modify the air flow signals etc to change the fuel mixture.

I am also thinking of just buying a stock ecu and sticking that in the car.

I also wish to get a fmic soon and thought that this ecu would be better to use than a stock one.

if its just running rich, i've heard that changing your o2 sensor should reduce that rich fuel smell, or maybe get a gizzmo air/fuel controller i think u can pick them up from autobarn for about 300-400 bucks?

My r33 is running rich so im gonna try the new sensor, let me know what results you get with what u end up doing.

cheers mate,

Aif

Yeah i have been thinking of changing the oxy sensor. Might try this first.

I ran my car on the dyno not long ago and the fuel/air ratio is up sh!t creek. The air fuel ratio jumps straight to 10 as soon as u floor it. I think this is why my car has poor performance and only managed 157rwkw even when running on 98pulp and having a 3" cat back exhaust system.

The dyno people just told me that the ecu must have so crazy tune which is messing things up.

I recently brought a Air fuel ratio gauge to fit to the car. so i will connect this up and see what response i get from the oxy sensor. Hopefully its just the oxy sensor thats screwed and i can change it and this might solve a few probs.

Just a bit disappointing that my car has these few mods and performs like crap.

I was wondering if anyone can suggest a place i can go to in vic that could perhaps change this ecu to a different type, ie remove the current chip as you can see its just clipped in, and then replace with a different brand chip.

Pick up an R32 ecu from the classifieds and an RPM switch from jaycar, then either buy yourself the appropriate flasher and download the software from the net and do it yourself, or take it to Dr Drift and he'll do the rest :P

EDIT: Wait, I've just looked at the picture, looks like it may have been flashed before with the socket on it and the sticker on the front of it, could you post up and serial numbers you find on the chip in the socket?

Dude, what the other guys are telling you is... its basically pointless to fart around with the stock ECU.

Just purchase the good ole S-AFC and be done with it. Its cheap, its easy :P

Your car is basically stock anyhow. An exhaust and 98 octane really isnt a lot.

So it doesnt justify going to full management, just a cheap interceptor will do the job.

It's not exactly pointless, a remapped stock computer is just as good as entry replacement units like the Power FC.. Remapping is also a better option than a SAFC, and replacing the r33 item due to the complexity of remapping it with one from an r32 I would dare say is also cheaper..

The R33 is NOT a cost effective option to chip unless it has a daughter board in the ECU already.

For the sake of couple hundred dollars, then some money to tune... nothing wrong with the S-AFC at all.

He has a virtually stock car. It just needs a bit of fuel trimmed out and thats it.

I'd rather keep the ECU thats designed for the car, so R32 ECU into the R33 = no sale when there are that many other options around that price range

Ok no worrys guys. Thanks for the info. I was considering using a s-afc to rectify my rich fuel mixture problems. I was just unsure if it will work now that my ecu has been messed with.

I hope to get a fmic soon and a dump pipe possibly.

I will start looking into s afc's then. thankyou for the help.

The S-AFC just "bends" the signal before the ECU

So it would counteract mapping etc.

You might also wanna try it with a stock ECU in there first, it might well be a tad nicer if you have someone to swap with for a brief time

YES YOU CAN REMAP THESE, read on.

I have one and SAM DR Drift, is in the process of testing the final version of the hardware to write these chips. The chip still needs to be replaced with a new one everytime you do a burn, but it will work once the hardware is up and running.

I have one of these in an R33 and it makes 217 rwKw at 14.9 psi with an SAFC and supporting mods.

They still run a bit ritch, and had to back base timing off to 13 deg as at high boost i got some pinging.

Mine still hass some air flow protection at 14 psi and low revs, so that's fine with me. It's a cheep upgrade, but eventually you will need to go to a fully programable computer.

Ye he played around with my old one, which was a modified one.

Sam and i go way back

Its just the one write only that i dont like. But once emulation works so you can jsut do real-time, then do a single burn.

Then... not "too bad". Still not easy for adjustments though like a PFC unless im behind and it can be done?

yeah still not as easy, the type of chip these use means you need to burn a new chip everytime, but the way i understand sam is setting it up, is that he can do incar realtime programing to get the car runnign as it should, and the burn the rom to suit after the tuning has been done.

Then if things change in the car, you have to do it again. The thing is, with the ECU being already setup, all you need to do is burn new chip, so saving some money already haveing an ECU that is capable of using the plug in roms.

will have to wait and see how sam goes with it all.

Hmm interesting stuff. Well "WogsRus" can you tell me if ya mate sam gets any break thru's with that ECU. I wouldn't mind getting mine done. I just sort of wanted to see if i can do anything with this setup that i have. I don't plan "at this stage" to go too crazy with the mods. Prob just more boost, fmic, panel filter, safc, hiflow "perhaps", dump pipe/turbo to cat section.

maybe some forged insides later on. I hope to go nuts on a race car I want to get in the near future.

Yeah so if ya mate has some break thru's i would like to hear bout it.
