Hi All,

Hoping someone might be able to help me,

I'm going overseas (Europe) for 2 months from this sunday. My insurance with Just cars is about to run out and to renew with them is going to cost me 700/1100 (6month/1yr) lump sums. What im hoping to do is to insure the car in my dads name for 2 months whilst im away and then change it back to my name (hopefully cheaper or at least have the ability to pay monthly instead of yearly/6monthly). I have asked Just Cars to quote on it with dads name as the only driver and it came out about $70'ish cheaper.

Does anyone else know anyway around this? like can you put the insurance on hold or something like that?

My intention is to have the car garaged (not at home) and started once a week by my old man

Also does anyone know of any other places that would insure a skyline apart from just cars? I have just rang HBF asking for a quote and i know the RAC doesnt do skylines

(ps yes i am about to search for previous insurance posts to see, but thought i'd ask in the same post anyway)

Thanks in advance

Adam

Thanks for your replies, I did think about doing the fire and theft only but just incase dad decided to drive it whilst i was away (even around the block) i woulnt want it to go anywere without insurance!

I got a call back from HBF, to insure it under my dads name only $729 a year / $66.91 a month - I'm going to go with this option because that way it will cost me like $130ish to cover it for the 2 months I'm away and then I can re-insure it with just cars or whoever is cheaper

Thanks for the replies :(

Cheers

Adam

im pretty sure shannons would cover you (btw its lucy i work with alyse)

they will insure if you are over 21 and if you have had your car for over a year (stupid rule)

i called about my bfs car getting insured.. when he had just bought his, but they wouldnt let him as he had only just bought it - and they said he had to own it for a year before he could insure it with them.
