Gtr Bov Modifications

When I removed the stock BOV's from my R32 GTR, I noticed they were a bit rusty dirty. I could just clean them up with some WD40 or something but I was thinking of making some nice alloy housings for them. What exactly is inside of them and can anyone see anything wrong with this?

They are basically a valve. Not a lot more to it.

They work perfectly the way they are designed, ie size/port/distances etc etc. So you'd wanna be pretty handy not to change this.

Would its location along the inlet piping make a difference?I was thinking of welding them to the intercooler piping just before the plenum.

There isnt a lot of room dude to fit them.

well you can, but it wouldnt look the best.

Closer isnt so much of a problem. Look @ the factory spot for an R33 gts-t

Its just getting the return hose that will be a pain for you if you wanted to relocate them for some crazy reasons

they have a spring and a diaphram inside that you cant see. unless you have a specal squashy tool to re cap em

I plan to make alloy bodies for them. I guess I can work out the best place to put them when I do the mock up for the intercooler piping.

I have a questoin for you: WHY?

does it serve any purpose? Gtr bovs are hidden anyways. you can't see it. why make alloy housings, whatever. You're more likely to make them function worse than how they are now. If you want to make them pretty, polish them.

Re Manwhore: Why, because they have rusted up internally and I enjoy CNC machining things. Just because it is out of sight, doesn't mean it can't look nice.

Oh ok, that's fair enough. I thoguht it was to make them nice outside (they're usually dirty outside, because they're in the wheel arch, and people don't always run the wheel arch plastic.

I want them to look nice on the outside aswell, wank factor is always important.
