Cleaning Aac Valve In Rb26?

Hi guys

Given the extensive coverage of this job on other skyline engines - Im wondering about this for the rb26, as I'm having a few minor idle hunting issues when under electrical load (headlights etc) and I heard that cleaning this valve may fix it - Can anyone shed some light as to where / how it is done ? Appreciate any advice in advance.

Thanks for the help boys, Ive had a look at the Rb25 write up, and even tried to follow it and find the valve in my engine bay, but it turns out theyre not the same - Ive also heard someone mention that the valve is under the manifold? Cowie, if you've got the wherabouts of anything on the RB26 i'd be grateful!

have a feel under the manifold around the middle. You can feel the AAC assembly and i think the idle screw points towards the front of the car aswell

getting it off is another story and its even difficult to touch the bloody thing. Theres not even enough room to swing an ant. Id take the cooler pipes and battery out and place a mirror under the plenum to try and locate the screws to take the thing off. Good luck!

Failing that, id say the plenum would have to come off...yuck!!

The AAC can be easily removed without taking off the plenum, or sub plenum. It's bolted to the side of the sub plenum using 4 x 6mm bolts (10mm hex head) and these can be undone using small (1/4" drive or perhaps 3/8") ratchet. The bolts undo/come out toward the drivers side shock tower. It's actually more difficult to disconnect th short air hose connecting the AAC to the plenum as it's quite stiff and can be difficult to disconnect (or reconnect) in the confined space. There's also a gasket between the AAC body and the sub plenum which will almost certainly break or be damaged, so have a spare on hand.

      Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛

      Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it

      Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!

      Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.

      Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
