Hey,

Have a little issue with my AC in my r32 gtst and hope someone has an answer.

When i got my ac compressor changed+regassed, the mechanic said that my blend door servo motor is dead. Therefore i cannot control the temps of the ac. He set it manually to cold so I just get cold air coming out regardless of Temp on climate control.

I went into AC diagnostic mode, and went through all the steps and no error came up for a dead blend door motor. ( I think the number is 26 ).

So what exactly is my problem? If it was a dead blend door motor it should have registered on the diag test mode on the climate control...

Cheers

Patrick

Was good during hot says as its stuck on cold but now I cant set it to Hot on the cold days! :)

So the problem is you can't get it to turn off.....

Ask the guy who put the new compressor in to show you where you can turn the air-con off from"manually",,,seeing he

set it on cold all the time...you can set it back during summer.

If he says you can't..he was lieing to you from the start and does not know anything about climate control.

Might then have to try some one who can fix your problem from the start.......how do you know

he correctly diagnosed the problem at the start and that he changed your compressor for no reason at all.

You might have a blown main fuse or something like that...lol

He said that he set the hot/cold flap to Cold setting manually. The climate control controls a motor (blend door servo motor) which moves the flap from cold to hot. He said that the motor is dead and that i should find a 2nd hand one to replace it with, in order to have control of temperatures again.

The funny part is that the AC Diag should come up with error 26-blend door motor, but it doesnt...

I have the same issue with my r32. No hot air comes from the vents what so ever (great in summer, but its starting to get annoying). Running the A/c climate control diag says that everything is working.Anyone know what might be causing this. Is there anything i can do to diagnose whats going on.

Common problem...and AC Diagnostic mode would not necessarily give an error for it...mine didn't because it was a failure in a mechanical component...just go to a wrecker and change it...in the time it took you to write this thread and wait for replies you could have gotten your aircon working...

you must have read over the part where i said i wasn't keen on a crappy 2nd hand replacement. my dash is apart already, i know what's involved in tearing the thing apart and i DO NOT want to be doing it again a year later when the 'wreckers part' fails.

my air con has been playing up for ages. all i get is hot air

the compressor and gas has been chcked and they're fine.

how do i perform an air con diagnosis?

The only thing i can see wrong is the display is out of whack when i turn it on during a hot day. but the functions/fan settings still work when i press any of the buttons.

the easiest way 2 check the a/c system is if u hear the ac compressor in then it has gas in as the compressor wont cut in without pressure in the lines. if it wont vary between hot and cold. stick ur head under the dash and get a friend 2 vary the temp between hot and cold and u should c sum levers move on the side of the heater box. if u cant c anymove then there is a problem in that part. hope that helps

Most likely not the motor itself. Its actually mechanical as described above and its very common. This is the same part that makes that clicking sound on startup on other skylines. Gearteeth are just probably completely broken off rather than just a few.

Have fun pulling out the dash

If it has gas in it will get cold (actually the vaccum makes it cold nehow). To check compressor&compressor clutch operation start car, turn on ac and see if RPM increases

    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.

    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
    • No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.
    • Does anyone know if this is off centered? Looks like it, when I indicate to go right, but turn my steering wheel slightly left it cancels (was always like that even before I started messing around with it) was wondering if anyone else has the same issue?
