So that tool can pressure test the head to make sure the stem seals are sealing correctly? Just so you can determine whether it actually is a seal that is the problem and not a cracked guide.

I know what you're saying and can appreciate what you have done....it's not a new thing, and those tools have been around for some time (decades). In fact I use them to install valve springs (after running in a cam, then changing over to double springs). Things like that are ok but you have to consider it from a workshops point of view and that a warranty has to be given to some extent. Also it is dodgy to only do 90% of the job by not testing it to ensure there will be no other problems. Also it will save you time by not having to do it again if it does turn out to be a cracked guide.

i know where you're coming from but the bottom line is, im not a workshop. i dont need to supply myself with a warranty because if it was still leaking the head would come off and i'd send it to a workshop. but in doing what i did i saved myself an easy $700-$1000.

if it didnt work i'd be up for that anyway.

Those guys who have attempted the seals while leaving the head on, how do you think this tool would go?

that tool is for overhead springs. like in diesel engines.

and in the SR20. although its a tight fit there so getting that tool in there is almost impossible.

you definatly cant use that tool on an rb25

don't wanna sell the tool you made by any chance?

Have to do my valve springs and don't want to take the head off for the same reason as you.

Would you think the valve springs would be easier than the seals?

Cheers!

the valve springs would be easier. you dont need to mess around with pliers trying to get the valve stem seal out. but while its all out why not do the valve stem seals anyway?

ive put up a DIY in the fabrication section. if you still arent keen to make one then just cover my costs and its yours.
