Hey im not really handy with tools and car parts and such but i want to replace my steering wheel with a nice wood grain one as its starting to peel...

Is this a fairly easy process to do? Can i just buy a steering wheel and do it myself at home or should it be done by somoene who knows what they are doing?

Basically how hard is it?

well firstly i hope you know if you get pulled over you will be defected for it.

secondly changing a steering wheel is a peice of piss mate. get the boss kit to fit and you are laughing.

im not to sure about a soarer and how many bolts there will be to take the actually steering wheel off. should be around 2-4.

once you take the bolts out get a hammer and start hitting from behind the steering wheel.

if it starts coming loose make sure when you go to rip it off that your face is well clear, otherwise you will end up looking like 'mike tyson in the 9th round. "

why would i be defected? Surely you can replace a steering wheel without it being illegal?

After your description it doesnt sound that easy, i dont like the sound of smashing a hammer againts the wheel... :)

I think if your car came standard with an airbag, then it is a defect to replace the wheel with one that doesn't have an airbag in it.

It is very easy to change (on a car without an airbag, I have no experience with air bag ones), just make sure that the wheels are straight when you put it on.

I didn't have to use a hammer for any of the ones I've changed. Sometimes the centre nut is hard to undo.

For saftey reasons i would suggest you leave the center nut on a few turns to save bashing your nose in!
