Hmmm...which all tells me i should sell the bucket of shit Nissan and buy a friends Group NC Escort and do have a ball!

Hohohohoho :)

We just got rid of the last of the 5 race team Escorts, glad to see the black of the rusting, oil dripping, unreliable, piles of Pommy crap.

Don't go there Roy :)

Don't even think of it :)

:D cheers :D

Properly built Escorts are awesome. I love wathching them being built...so cool. And the sound :)

Your the only guy that has played with a GTSt and you are up north. I only have so much to spend and cant afford to be developing/trialling stuff for the car...thats where im envious of the Vic GTR guys as they have Racepace to sort very quick cars first time for them :)

As for an Escort, i know the guy to use to get one to handle great and sort for me. Im running out of money and just want my car to give me a few months of reliable running then i will be happy. But will see what can be done with my suspension when i get it shipped off to you. LOL. I stumbled onto a killer engine setup without any traouble...wish i could be so lucky as to get a killer susp setup as well :D

If only i could afford this... :D

Twin Cam seam welded CK49 shell, Chrome Molly cage, alloy arches, 2 litre alloy BDG, dry sumped, new twin plate Tilton clutch, Quaife 5 speed, 5 link rear end, alloy radiator, hubs, tanks and pedal box. 4 wheel discs, adjustable shocks, compression struts and bars. I so want this car...sadly its worth 3 times what my GTSt is worth :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Oops. Too late. Bent car means dont give a fark anymore about fixing its stability problems. Car is inherently pretty stable when wedged between tyres and barrier :P

So lesson learnt. If you have an ill handling car then pay the speeds you do at the track a little more respect and sort the problem and dont get comfortable driving around the problem.

So, these Bilsteins....i think i may have great fun using them as legs for my new coffee table

Pics? LOL. Saddist :D

..of course, and video footage :ermm:

Im being silly really...its not that bad.

But the fact is the car whilst braking in a straight line swapped ends on me in a real hurry. Not a hint of what was about to come. So off to do some headscratching. Most of all im dirty because up until that point i had man handled the car around to be 3rd quickest. Missing the last 3 sessions allowed 2-3 more cars to go quicker then me. I would have easily pulled another 0.5 seconds off my best. If i was able to balance the car and use 3rd gear instead of 4th there is again about that much time again :P

Im wondering if the big swaybars and sissy springs with semi slicks mean that over bumps and when the car is loading its outside tyres that the thing is unweighting the inside tyres and the results are some pretty wicked skids from locked brakes, or at least the car squirming under brakes.

At the end of the day...its time to ship the car off to the mechanic for new suspensio. Forget my own reserach and farking around doing things multiple times. He has made my lil 32 a strong heart, i trust him to give it grace it with some fancy footwork

poor troy. not your fault though. it was the hand of god reaching out to touch you.....inapropriately that is. I disctinctly heard a cloud say: "Take that, Brisby" before a giant hand came down and flicked the rear end of your car.

The hand should have had a set of multi-grips and been trying to tighten the loose nut behind the wheel. :D

Looking at the video footage i cant believe i thought it was ok to continue to drive the car. I thought i was on top of it, but wrestling a car from corner to corner isnt what it should be about.

Frankly im more worried about how hlemet hair makes me look as though im going bald. Fark, im not going bald am i? :)

lol

Troy... Thats not one of those chick "does my bum look fat" type questions is it?

I shouldn't throw stones in glass houses; I'm starting to find a couple of reoccurring grey hairs. I rip the bugger(s) out, a couple of weeks later I found there back! :worship:

    • I'm confused. You said you want to "remove the clear coat from most panels" but it sounds like you are actually doing a full respray? Few random things to add -  If you chase the blistered paint with 120 grit, I can almost guarantee you'll chase it down to bare metal (that's fine). But if you paint the car from here, you'll have nice little indents where ever the blistered paint was. The new paint won't magically level out the low areas, you need to fill them. Which leads me to the main point I wanted to add, make sure the whole car is flat before you paint it. All those areas with blistered paint you sanded out, make sure to fill them and triple check they are flat with a block guide coat. I'd also check the whole car is flat with a large block and guide coat but yeah up to you if you want to go that far.
    • 300hp (225kw) is barely outside the standard turbo's range with a bit of extra boost in it (200ish). If you are going to change the turbo you should aim for 250-300kw (330-400hp) to make the expense worthwhile
    • A couple of things, firstly omg that turbo is expensive! $3,000 USD for dinosaur technology is robbery. You could buy a G series turbo and have a good amount of change instead.  If you want a good budget option, have a look here - https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/ If you are keen to spend more, have look at the modern turbos, Garrett G series, Borgwarner EFR, etc. Have a look at the RB25 dyno results thread for inspiration.  If you upgrade your turbo to something that will support the 300hp you want and only "probably" have Haltech ECU, your car will only "probably" run. Actually, no it won't run. You are going to need the ECU and injectors at the time you do the turbo upgrade.  No thoughts on "this much boost" as you didn't say how much boost that actually is. Having said that, plenty of unopened RB25's making even more power then what you are chasing.
    • I'm looking for a direct bolt on turbo upgrade for my 93 R33 GTST.  Anyone have experience with this Greddy T620Z turbo upgrade? I'd like to be able to run about 300hp to the rear wheels without putting too much strain on the turbo. I do daily drive the car.  Pretty stock car with basic bolt ons (exhaust outlet, down pipe, high flow cat and catback exhaust along with intake and FMIC).  I'l probably have a Haltech plug n play on the car before installing the turbo. https://www.greddy.com/products/turbo-upgrade-ecr33-er34-t620z-rb25-11520057   Also, any thought on this much boost on a 30 year old motor with 250,000KMs?  Engine feels/sounds strong for what it's worth.   Thanks you in advance!
