Muffler Shopping...

I'm after a nice sounding muffler for my r33 (no cannons). I want it to be fairly subtle twin-tip if possible and have a 3 1/2" or 4" input. Oh and 'relatively' quiet. Anyone have or no of a muffler that fits this description?

I just got a X Force WRX twin tip muffler installed on my skyline.

Its only a 3" input but i'm pretty sure you can get it in larger sizes. Sounds real deep at idle and only cost me about $500 for a catback 3" custom job to suit the new muffler.

Considering something like that, but I still don't know what they sound like so I would be buying blindly.

Kakimoto are pretty good, really nice sound & don't drone at all IMO.

No drone at all. It sounds tough as, my previous muffler was an x force cannon and it was fairly shit sounding. The new one is a damn good compromise between sound and flow. Nice note on acceleration and quiet cruising, what more could you want.

If you really want to spend some dough have a look a CES Racing mufflers. They're quite expensive but are beautifully made and sound awesome too. They're located half way between brissie and the GC.

Do CES or HiTech do 3.5" mufflers?

I went shopping some time ago and found it impossible to track down a 'muffler' that was 3.5" here in Adelaide.

So I'm going to see how the 3" goes.

I'm after a large body 3.5" muffler for the rear and a largeish muffler/resonator after the cat.

I would think the xr6t systems will be 3.5". They run a 3" standard.

i have a kakimoto system on my car, i rekon it sounds real nice and quiet with a deep rumble

driving conservatively you can barely hear it but when u flatten it, it gets quite loud

dont quite know of the "drone" you are speaking of...

I just got them to hack up the previous system and use the middle muffler from that, combined with the new WRX muffler.

Had a kakimoto oval muffler, superb i tell ya, no drone, quiet growl, not loud and crappy sounding like alot of mufflers out there.

i got the HKS super dragger. and i love it, Very quiet with a low rumble. then i got the other extream when the screamer goes off... lol
