I had the most brilliant of thoughts for the next time the officer pulls you over and stuff.

Just rip out a keyboard and a screen and talk to him that way. Its a sure winner.

Tell him about how your gonna have 300rwkw but you still want midrange, how your 19, a pro driver and all the other stuff you've come out with of late.

He'll soon be so scared off because of your ub3r l33tn3$$ that you wont be defected!

Thats like, the bestest idea i think.

On a serious note, have you even checked the ADR's before calling it wrong?

lol dont forget the lack of respect he has for WRX's as they run higher pound standard.

man thats some bad luck, as i stated before in the forums, when i had my 33 a cop gave me a defect for my battery being in the boot. When ever a cop pulls you over just agree with what they are saying, always tell the truth and walk away. I went to vicroads with the factory manual. They told me to go to the police station. I went there talked to the officer, the officer appologised to me and took it off. Good luck with the Vicroads

Why would you bother getting a roadworthy?

You've already said that the officer didn't tick the box stating that you needed a roadworthy or engineers certificate.

Do Vicroads have a record of the alleged defect?

If it's not on their system, what's the point in getting a roadworthy done?

Airbags are triggered by a number of sensors at the front, and sides of the vehicle.

I have worked with an airbag producer and they are calibrated EXACTLY for the layout of a vehicle AS IT LEAVES THE FACTORY.

If you add, say, a large chunk of aluminium to the front of the car, it is reasonable to assume that the frontal crash behaviour will be affected, and similarly the airbag deployment characteristics will be changed.

So, yes, the cop definitely has legs to stand on.

Do not assume that you are always (ever!) right, the officer is right in this situation.

i never said i was right or he was wrong, i jsut said it was farking bs

i know removing safety features isnt the best idea but you could deploy/remove the airbag, then that wouldnt be an issue of getting eng certif. ect.. put an aftermarket steeering wheel on.. just a thought.. i would consider if i was in your shoes.

Airbag deploying mechanism's can't be very well set up then.. If the chunk of aluminium in question happens to be the radiator of the other car and not your own fmic you have to worry whether it will go off? Least my car is safe.. the crumple zone is whatever i hit.. hopefully a nice little korean car with a decent safety rating that will smoosh to diminish impact >_<

if your car came factory with an airbag you're not allowed to run an aftermarket steeringwheel..unless it has an airbag as well..which would defeat the purpose
