Question is how strong were the JTCC M3s and Sierras? I doubt they were near the class of the ATCC/ETCC cars

Oh, no doubt. I'm not arguing with you. It would make an interesting comparison anyway. Oftentimes Japanese race cars, just like Japanese drivers, get amazing reputations for what amounts to being big fish in a small pool.

We need to see these RS500 hand granades out racing again!!!!!......f**k I miss the Group A days......How do we get rid of the V8 Shitbox series?.....isn't 15years enough?....who gives a shit if a Holden beats a Ford or visa versa?.....put some f**king variety into it!!!!!....If the Aussie shitbox's cannot keep up to the rest of the world then so be it.....every car has strengths and weakness', that's what Group A was about!!!!!

P.S. Or are the V8 shitbox's still sore that a Nissan(Datson) kicked the shit out of them???lol :P

just watching an old nissan motorsport clip i've got

Referring to Fred Gibson Motorsport, "Currently the team is exporting the Nissan Hollinger 6 speed gearbox, and other driveline components to Nismo for the Japanese Group A Team"

If anyone watched the race from Winton on the weekend you would have seen the brief highlights from the '85 ATCC race. It was nice to actually see the drivers in the cars. Damn cars nowadays you can't see anything because the poor schmuck behind the wheel is sitting on the floor somewhere behind te B pillar.

What the fark is going on? The only Gibson car that got sold off OS is i hear on a boat back to OZ!!! So the 1991 Bathurst winning car is planned to be making a return. I wonder if the GIO car and 91 car start to run whether Terry will get the 1992 Bathurst car out? I hope not. I would rather see a few more Sierras etc make a return and run with the R31a, i would hate to see the GTRs do to a class of racing what they did in the early 90s :(

Also the Listerine Sierra is im told been purcahsed by an Australian owner

Shit that's scary.....that r32 is a pretty fast car isn't it??? It's one of the first ones so I don't think it has the same weight and turbo restrictions as Terry's and the GIO car.

And your right on the Sierra....I spoke to the guy other night i think....Didn't Daimon Hill dive that car?

P.S. I had better nail the starts and make the car VERY wide for Muscle Car....lol

Ex graham goode white 1988 listerine ford rs500 race car,

This is graham goodes own car from the 88 btcc season, ( white listerine sponcership)

Also ran in 89 by graham for the 89 btcc

In fai sponcership driven by sean walker and damon hill 96 f1 world champion,

Graham goode only built five sierra rs500 race cars and this car is one of four remaining today and the only sierra race car used by him to have ever been sold,

Sister car to mike newmans black listerine car ( which mike newman still owns )

Just undergone full rebuild and is once again back to its former glory,

Normal group a spec

Full group a original shell with the chassie tag ggr88 001

Getrag race box

9" Ford motorsport diff

Group a suspention

Ap group a brakes f&r

Air jacks

Original bag tank

Centre lock bbs split rim wheels

527 Bhp engine

Lots of one off manufactured parts by graham goode,

Loads of new parts fitted like new pads alround new cluch all master cylinders replaced, original group a bag tank re-done

Eight month rebuild with much care taken to keep it as original as possible,

Very rare chance to get a original ex btcc sieera with this much history.

And the only group a sierra with known ex f1 world championship driver history ( damon hill )! Its all on the btcc videos! And reference to this car is on the grahamgoode web site.

Car is going thought the last stage of restoration and will be available in three to four weeks time

What i really want to know is does anyone have the history of the Win Percy/Allan Grice R31 that was run in the UK in 88? I have looked everywhere and spoken to lots of people. Short of an acquaintance that speaks with percy from time to time regarding some histpric tarmac stuff....i have no idea on where to start to track down the car. All i know is its a Nismo car out of Japan as opposed to the Gibson cars that always were quickly developed using local gear and know how (LOL, so probably slower)

    • Hows your intake piping? Are you still running stock? Having in the stock AFM position would mean, if the BOV was shut/venting out, it'd create the almost stalling kind of effect right // "the rich pulse behaviour" due to MAF thinking air is flowing ? But this would be better than having the bov in the stock position + MAF on/just before cross over piping right?
    • Essentially, yes. Although I wouldn't put the AFM on the crossover pipe. I'd want to put it into what amounts to the correct size tube, which is more easily done in the intercooler pipework. I bought a mount tube for card stile AFM that replaces the stock AFM - although being a cheap AliExpress knockoff, it had not flange and I had to make and weld my own. But it is the same length and diameter as the stock RB AFM, goes on my airbox, etc etc. I don't have a sick enough rig to warrant anything different, and the swap will take 5 minutes (when I finally get around to it and the injectors & the dyno tune).
    • So to summarise, the best thing to do is to move recirc to between turbo and IC, and maf on the crossover pipe. Meaning I'd need a recirc flange, drill a hole in the piping on turbo outlet area. And drill hole on crossover to fit/weld maf sensor? Either that or put the MAF on the turbo inlet right?  Is an aftermarket recirc/blowoff valve recommended? Do currently have family in Japan so could probably bring something back with maybe a cheeky lil SuperAutobacs run?
    • Yep, so far most have said that it looks like corrosion on the wall from piston not moving. Which then has probably damaged the oil rings and caused those vertical marks. The longest the engine was still after the rebuild, was the winter of 2018 - 2019, plus the boat trip to Japan. When I shipped the car, it had normal gas in the tank but before that winter pause, it had E85 in tank.  In any case, even if either one of those was the cause, it happened close to 6 years ago and the car has been driven something like 30 000kms after the fact. Again, apart from the plugs and the dip stick, there is nothing in the way the car runs that would indicate what has been going on in the engine. I am going to consult a shop and ask their opinion, what would be the best approach. I do have some access to a garage I could use to diagnose further myself, but time is very restrictive. Might end up buying another engine that could be used while this one is being remedied. Without pulling the head, it will be impossible to find out if it needs another bore, but here's to hoping a hone would suffice.  Goddamnit, I would really have preferred this not happening.
    • Boot is going to be replaced eventually. I just wire brushed what I could and rust converted. Then painted in rust kill primer. the spoiler also got repainted and plugs replaced on the ends. The under side of the bonnet is going to be black also, currently white. But red on the top side, same colour code as the silo to begin.
