Hey guys,

Not long ago, i posted up a thread cause i had a loud ticking noise coming from my engine somewhere....and with the support of you guys we found that it would most likely be the Hydraulic Lifters making the ticking noise.

I have since located a set of second hand lifters and the car is due to go in next week for repair. But before it does i have one question as i have found another symptom that has arised.

Whilst driving the car in normal conditions say along a highway, if i drop it back a gear and accelerate fairly hard, probably about 1/2 to 3/4 power...the engine will jump momentarily, a kind of misfire....

is this typical to a lifter issue? (im not very clued up on this kinda stuff)

Thanks guys.

unlikely, normally collapsed lifters will result in more noise, and slightly more wear on the camshaft (due to it not maintaining contact, but it would take ages to cause any meaningful damage). shouldnt have anything to do with what you descibed

with ur lifters, before u put the new ones in, i would go and test them all (and ensure theyre stored in oil). if u can noticably compress any with ur fingers, then theyre rooted. you should find some of your lifters will be fine (not all will have failed). if u have a plastic syringe handy, pump some new clear oil thru them (i think in the side, and it comes out the top) which might free any gunk in there (in the good ones)
