its a series 1 there's no such thing as a 1.5

it may a lil better stuff such abs etc, but its still a series 1

like others have said to confirm it just post pics of ur interior

we regard series 1.5 as a mix between series 1 and 2. series 1.5 look like a series 1, but have a few things like the ignition system of a series 2.

Front bar is either a Nismo 400R or a UAS Copy... I have the same bar (Nismo).

As others have said ..... Series 1 headlights and bonnet etc... Series 2 wing, interior and engine (coil setup). Unless the series 2 wing has been put on a S1 - pics of interior or ignitor (or lack of) will determine. Technically no such thing as a 1.5 but it's commonly referred to as such... 93 & 94 are series 1 ..... 95 is a bitser but still a S1... 96-98 are series 2

Yeah its 1.5. When I bought my car, the guy who sold it advertised it as a series II. He knocked a couple hundred off the price when I told him its in fact a series 1 lol.

Mine is a sept 95 model so it has a series II engine and airbag but the body is still a series 1 like yours.

I love your front bar btw its one of the nicer series 1 bars I've seen, its not a 400R, i think its JUN as well.

 Will have a look again at mine..... there is a nismo stamp on mine and it looks identical... unless some lil shmuck has done it!

Hey guys,

This probably sounds stupid but how exactly tell the difference between a series one and series two R33 just by looking at it. And is there a difference in performance between the two?

Thanks,

Sammy.

your car is a series 1.5 mate. your headlights are not sharp as the series 2's are. thats how u can tell also

Yep that's my front bar - its extremely thick at the bottom ... you can scrape it and bump it n stuff and only the paint cracks! Its coming off to be repaired seeing the trolley jack collapsed and made all the paint crack when it hit the deck  Il see if there are any other markings on it whilst its off............ Jun.. Nismo... tis all good!

Hi Guys - sorry i didnt get a chance to read all these other replied til now. I just took these pics of my interior with my phone... that is why it looks so crap... lol

Let me know what it is... Thanks!

Thanks on the comments about the front bar too, glad you all like it :stupid:

Dash looks like a series 1 dash, as the hazard light's hole isnt budged out....but the body kit has a s2 rear and s1 front. :stupid:

Is the ignitor pack sitting at the back of the coilcover? If it is it would be a series 1 engine. Are the seats the S2 Kmart style or the good REAL S1 seats?

But who knows what people mix and match engines and body kits these days...

Dyno it and see what power you get and or do a 1/4 mile run... They are all the same skylines lols

I think it's a series 1.5 though.

I dont think i have seen a 95 with the low 93-94 wing, i think it is a perfect example of a 95 Gts-t Series 1 with a few bits and pieces from a series 2.

Bitsa or 1.5 whatever you wanna call it...

i actually met a guy with a 95 series 1 R33, two tone in colour, series 2 wing and series 2 interior, seats and door trims, but had an aftermarket steering wheel, i forgot to check the instrument cluster and igniter, he said he got the car like that, interesting....

    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
