Guys and girls

I'm looking to sell my 32 gtr soon and wondering if plates are worth selling separately?

Ive got RRR 032 in the old non logo style in black and white - no yearly fees like a custom plate, etc....

guess im just getting an idea if people would be interested in them and what they'd be willing to pay.....?

cheers

Tom

Depends on the person, if they really want the plates they'd be willing to pay more. But realistically, those plates are worth $20 + $50 to transfer to the new owner so I dont think you'd get that much for them.

IMO paying for plates is gay as .... how people think they can sell something they got for free is beyond me, as are the stupid people who actually pay for them.

I think you will find something like 1% of all plates advertised for sale actually sell at all .... and really they are only the ones with '8' in them, as some Asians are highly superstitous.

If I remember correctly the previous owner of 'Skyline' couldn't sell the plates at all so just let them lapse and effectively handed them back into Transport SA - where the current owner got them for the cost of the plates, and is now trying to sell them for a profit. No offense intended - just an observation, and feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

IMHO it is fair to pay someone a small sum to reimburse them for originally buying the plate - beyond that is a bit of a joke to me. Everyone is different though I suppose ....

Mine are RBB 033 so they are RnS series and they cost me 70 or 90 bucks!!! Id say thats about all you could sell them for! and thats if someone would pay for them! would only save them waiting for them to become available again or they could choose something different! But yeh im hearing ya Andrew! I used to have "Deluxe" and have since seen them on a Rx3! Some chick got them after i just let them have them back! And have since seen her BF trying to sell them for a grand or something and thought you D#%K but if some other D#@K bought them for that price then he/she are worse than the seller!

Im not too fussed if nobody would be keen to buy them separately...I'll just flip them to a mate to put on his gtr....

Guess i was just wondering if anyone was interested for a small fee as i thought it was a pretty cool plate without custom plate costs!

love to get my sinista plates back on the car here but costs way too much here for them, in darwin it was a $140 one off payment for 7 letters....and plus the hassle from cops with custom plates

    • Much less twat-tastic. CF wheels are too garish for civilised use.
    • From there, as the manual says....assembly is the reverse of disassembly, no tricks worth mentioning Much better (for me)
    • In my case, the standard wheel I had was in good condition but the buttons had more wear, so I swapped them across from the original wheel from the car. The plastic rear cover is held on by 4 tabs, and once the wiring is removed you can get access to 2 screws on each side the hold the buttons in From there I just swapped the wiring over. What was interesting is the standard style wheel is 2.0kg but the carbon fibre one is 50% heavier at 2.9kg. It even has a weight inside the wheel at the top to make up for some sort of imbalance in the design. weird
    • Once the airbag is off, to remove the steering wheel.... Undo the 2 plugs into the clock spring, and the horn connector from it's clip. Hit the 19mm nut with a rattle gun (preferably) or if you don't' have one, you probably want an assistant to hold the wheel in place while you use a breaker bar to undo the nut Then, screw the nut back on 3 turns, and pull the wheel sharply towards you. If that doesn't work hit it medium force with a rubber mallet on either side, or possible behind if you can get there. If that all fails (it shouldn't!) you might need a steering wheel puller
    • So, to next task....the carbon fibre steering wheel was either an expensive factory option or a chinesium special. Either way, I don't like either the flat bottom or thick ring style, so it had to go So...to remove the steering wheel.... First, disconnect battery negative and stomp on the brake pedal for a few seconds. Then, remove the small circular covers on each side of the wheel's rear surround to uncover the airbag clips. You need to push something like a flat bladed screw driver through, to push the steel clip inwards and pull the side of the airbag forward. Once you've done the easy side, same on the centre console side. You can see the tab you are shooting for circled in red Then, disconnect the horn spade connector and for the yellow airbag plug you need to get something small under the black locking tab to pop it out, then the connector releases......airbag is off
