Can I Run My Car With 02 Sensor Plug Disconnected

I need to test a wire to quickly hook up a air fuel ratio gauge from under the bonnet .

need to find the 02 sensor wire which reads between 0.4 v and 0.6 v so i have been told.

If i disconnect the plug and start it. I can test the wires without having to cutt in anywhere

what happens if i run the engine with this sensor disconnected?

is it bad in anyway?

responses asap would be v handy..

It wont hurt it. You can drive it that way but it will just be a bit doughy below 4k.

Personal preference is to splice into the o2 input at the ecu. saves mucking around in the engine bay and trying to run new wires through the firewall.

thanks !!!! yeh i know ... but i actually ran a few spare wires through my fire wall when i did my stej so i figure its easier than stuffin around with the ecu..
