High Oil Pressure?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys i got a little problem and im not sure what it means?

i was driving last night and seems that when im in low revs and in say a high gear the orange check engine light started flashing quickly and i notice the oil pressure started going from like the second line to over 4 on the oil gauge in the dash? i notice then when getting onto the freeway and acclerating up to the speed limit it done it again and seemed to for the rest of the nite everytime i acceleralted the pressure rose up.

I assume this is a bad bad thing but what is it ?

i got a r33 gtr has power fc n1 oil cooler hks turboes ported head pistons catch can injectors fuel rail 3.5in exhaust standard air flow meters.

help? ...... :D

i got a gtr as well , oil pressure in mine once warmed up is about 2kg on idle about 4kg around 4000rpm and about 6kg at high revs so to me your oil pressure is fine , i had never had the check engine light b4 get it checked out , what are your knock reading ????

so its normal for it to go up when at high revs.....? so im assuming the 2 4 6 8 etccc are kg readings... to check the knock is that just in the power fc hand controller? and i check it on idle?

Dont worry about your oil pressure it is fine , as u get more rev the oil pump spin faster so it pumps more oil , I dont have a PFC so i cant tell u how to check it but im 99% sure u will be getting a high knock like over over 90 that when your engine will light flash at u

hmmmmm okay did help the read was informative .... its a bar graph on the hand controller but when the bar graph went allmost full it started flashing the light.... mite try the high octane approach thanks gtr32gus.

Sounds like your PowerFC is running a default map or is incorrectly tuned or has forgotten it's map. This can happen if it's a new PowerFC, a second hand PowerFC from another car or if its broken.

Either way if the knock sensors are maxing out the bar graph you are minutes away from popping your motor if you keep driving it like that. You've probably already done considerable damage.

You need to stop driving it and take it to someone who knows what they're doing pronto.

The knock reading on the PowerFC is displaying what the knock sensors in your engine detect. . Knock, also called pinging or pre-ignition and is generally the result of the air-fuel mixture igniting or exploding prematurely. This is obviously going to cause problems in the cylinder if the crank wants to push the piston up but the igniting/exploding and thus expanding air-fuel mixture wants to push the piston down. Results - blown rings, pitted pistons, bent rods, engine damage, none of these are good.

If you really are seeing the engine light flash and the knock reading go way up you really need to stop driving it. Higher octane fuel or octane boost is not going to solve your problem AT ALL.

it seems to only do this when im in high gear and low revs than when i start to acclerate i its reallll boggy and the light comes on when i drive around normally its fine... has done it when i turned the boost up a lil.... ill take it to a tuner when they open up after holidays thanx sewid...

The dyno's ramp rates are too fast to simulate a road condition such as this.

Get it back to the dyno and tell him what its doing and he or maybe she will tune it a little more conservatively.

OR.. Just don't drive in that manner. :)

mine did the same we took out 2 degrees of ignition and it stopped it, it showed a bit of detonation as mentioned earlier......keith

    • Hi all,   I have been a member here for years and am back to owning an R35.  It's my car and thought members of the community might enjoy sharing my journey.  I am definitely here to join the conversation.  If sharing this content isn't appropriate or it belongs somewhere else, I am happy to have it deleted or moved...
    • Data looks rock solid? I'm assuming you jabbed the throttle twice OR once? the TPS voltage moves up and down twice, however you've mentioned you did it once.
    • Having not watched the videos, I'm unsure, but this may be better suited to the importing thread?
    • Update on this situation: (Forgot to put in my previous post that I bought another brand new pressure gauge and fuel shows the same 50psi) I've deleted all the aftermarket immobilizers and turbo timer shyt and placed all factory wiring back to normal. The problem is still the same and nothing changed, but atleast it's a bit more tidier under the steering wheel. I've also siphoned out all the old fuel and then poured new batch of BP98 fuel (about 15L) into the tank. Nothing changed. Still the same idle. I also changed out the MAP vac line with a new one and, still the same.  So 2 days ago, I thought fk it. I'll just change out the fuel rail and injectors with another set that I know worked well in my brother's R34 a while back. That other fuel rail has the exact same Xspurt 640cc as what I have right now. So I changed it out to that other fuel rail and injectors (new O-rings) and injector harness. Put everything back together, started the engine, 464906286_1624569924763105_5179888796065901094_n.mp4   and yeah... still the same 50psi and idle problem. 🫠 I can also hear each of injector's solenoids running when I put a screw driver to it and have the other end to my ear. I might get a noid light just to confirm pulsasion but yeah, very strange that both fuel rails and injectors put out 50psi.  31-10-2024.csv I've attached it here. I started recording, then started the engine and let it idle with no throttle, then at the end I applied a little throttle and then stopped recording.    So, now idk. I'm going to see if swapping out the brand new R35 coils to my old splits fires will change anything. 🤷‍♂️
    • Hey mate, nice work on the car. Just a quick note, people generally don't like it when you use the forums to dump and run to advertise your YouTube content. If you're gonna stick around and join in the conversation then great, but if not this might not be the best place for you.
