I was in the same situation as some of you guys a while ago, i didnt want to be cutting up parts of my car just to fit a fmic, so i decided on the Blitz LM fmic from Nengun, and i recommend it to everyone, it was so easy to fit, works great and looks awsome, here is a link to my thread i started a while ago when i was deciding what fmic to buy

Just some thinking...but if you must have the inlet and outlet on the same side then its a much better idea to have the tanks at the top and bottom of the cooler. You still get good surface area, you can get flow through a good number of runners. You have the space to make the top and bottom tanks flow well and ide them behind the top and bottom of the front bar.

But best of all is the amount of runners you get ensures you get low pressure drop with very good cooling. After all the things are there to cool inlet chares, though some ICs seem to not be so good on that front

So are you endorsing this buy or not? I'm confused. haha

Real time results will be the important thing here. No one has tried it so im putting my hand up to give it a go. I will judge it on lag and capability to handle 300+rwhp. If it stands up to the task then ill get some pics of install ect ect .. you can then judge for yourself.

Ok recieved intercooler today. looks of good quality, welds ect. Dummy fit it to car.. ran into a problem. Now im not to sure yet what i will do to get around this. The top pipe will want to go through where the right indicator light sits. Im sure this still can be done but im going to have to have a good think about how the hell im going to get around this. Any ideas welcome ..

Have you got the cooler mounted as low as possible? or is it mounted to the front reo bar?

If you space it down so the bottom of the cooler is flush with the bottom of your front bar, will that give the clearance needed?

I am looking at one of these coolers also. Would it be possible for you to take some pics of the separator on the inlet side?

The seperator is there i looked at that as soon as i got it out of the box. I dont know if mounting it further down will give me enough clearance.. I am going to have to pull the bar off again and have a better look But i feel some cutting will be required. Unfortunately. Either that or maybe even mount it a little off center. I dont mind if i have to do that as i want to put something across the front of my bar to protect the cooler and not make it so visible to the boys in blue.

Looking at the specs it says that the Working Press. is 35-40 PSI!

So that would indicate if you are using it at 15PSI it will only flow half the quoted 400hp.

Also the temps out of the turbo can be as high as 180'c in some conditions?

Is this cooler good enough for your needs or am I being too critical or incorrect in my assesment?

I suppose a bit late now you have bought it.

Compress Air Flow Rate <600Cubic Feet/Min, Rated to 400-500 Max HP

Working Pressure: 35~40PSI

Pressure Drop 2~5psi@35psi; 0.2~0.5psi@15psi

Hot Air Temperature 32°F~302°F (0°C~150°C)

Material 100% Aluminum

Design Bar and Plate

What size did you end up getting? if you mount it as low as practical, and as far back, it should fit centered. There is no question of the cooling ability, the real test of this style would be a pressure drop test, look forard to results.

Well reading the specs i would have hoped they listed a test effeciency. It seems they are testing everything else. If air goes in at 150deg C, whats it come out at?

I dont understand the whole pressure drop thing. Sure its not good to have a cooler that east 3psi of boost as it means you have to work the turbo harder and my result in an increase in temp post turbo. But at the end of the day you run your boost base don what the engine is seeing. Not what the turbo is producing. (though if you have a std turbo this could easily result in you running too much boost and killing the turbo)

The main point of a good intercooler is to reduce temperautes. If the air in the intercooler is not turbulent you do not get very good cooling. Turbulence means pressure drop...so in order to work they need to have some level of pressure drop. It will be interesting to see if you rtuner think the engine can take plenty of ignition when tuning it, suggesting that the inlet temps are nice and low

it depends on what the actuator or gate gets it signal from if its at the compressor outlet or after the intercooler.

ive noticed stock r32 turbo is at the compressor outlet, so you avoid pressure drop across the core (if you have it).

the r33 has it after the intercooler so you include pressure drop. that is, the gate wont open till say 12psi in the manifold past the intercooler and after pressure drop across the core

Well.. i have the intercooler fitted to the car. I have called an exhaust shop today and they will be looking if they want to make me some custom piping tomorrow. So with anyluck... tomorrow it will be finished :|... fingers crossed. Ill let you know how it goes.

I have installed the intercooler today. Cant say it feels any laggier then the side mount with only the small amount of piping needed with this intercooler. I have a powerfc and hiflow turbo on the car.. i watch my knock level with the tune i had done with the arc in place and my knock level was starting to climb with the revs. At first i figured the cooler must be a dud and i was feeling a little pissed off.

I then knocked 4 degrees out of the timing on the Hand controller and after 4 or 5 squirts up to 100km/h through 1st and 2nd gear the knock didnt go over 9 on the hand controller. This would indicate to me that i need to get my tune touched up to suit the intercooler as the air maps are not quite right. I expected this would be the case anyway i will get the tune touched up with more boost in the next coming weeks and will post pics of install tonight.

Well i had a bit of a set back to this little project. My harmonic balancer died so the car has been off the road. I Towed the car to the mechanic and got it replaced today and Just to make sure everything was looking good before the car went on the dyno i got a comp test done aswell. Results were 170 across the board so all is well.

I rang my tuner this evening and let him know the car is back on the road and with any luck it will be tuned as soon as possible. I will let you all know how it goes.
